You what? Everybody knew we were losing £5mil per season and that had to be covered somehow. If managers can't accept the real world of finance then whose fault is that? Rumour is one thing that Freedman was unhappy about was losing Zaha in the near future, forgetting what Ive just said and that Zaha was excited to leave. DF was unhappy he was made to start attacking with a decent team, and probably because Parish knew it was our last season with arguably the best winger in the champ. What happened? We got promoted. What did DF do? Drew in the final game of the season. I know who made the wrong call and it wasn't Parish.

I think we're saying the same thing Rudi, I meant that Bolton came in promising the war chest, not Parish and Co.

I certainly agree that SP has received some excessive criticism, given that not all managerial events were within his control. True, the top guy has to take some of the blame in any business - but Parish is doing his best to come to terms with a very different kind of business from which he is familiar.

IMHO, Steve Parish is probably the best chairman we've had since Arthur Wait (and I am old enough to remember those days )

I for one am glad we are in a far better position than clubs like Hull and Cardiff, with their owners' cluelessness with respect to local football culture.

For heaven's sake, we are still in the loadsadosh league - for a fifth season!

Although a little surprised at FdB's sacking after Saturday's game, we may not/never know the full story - as is often the case.

He has a tendency to buy into his own press when we're doing well. Remember the talk of Europe under Pardew? I think this overestimation has led to a failure to improve our recruiting infrastructure, failures at certain times to reinforce the squad, and to the appointment of FDB at a time when his style wouldn't fit. On top of that, I think most of us suspect that he steps on managers' toes a little too much.

We can't keep messing up and then rescuing ourselves every season. I think Parish has done a good job overall, but if at the end of the 2018/19 season we're still barely clinging to Premier League survival, you'd have to wonder if there's any long-term planning at all.

Rudi - I agree with every single word you have written and feel increasingly guilty about once having been a bit catty toward you and bexleydave, who also talks a lot of sense.

Except one thing.

I believe we Boer will be a top manager one day and could have been good for us. You've said elsewhere that you thought he'd use us as a stepping stone, if successful.

I have no issue with that. We live in a world where skills are commodities. Koeman and Pochetino (surely spelt wrong) did that to Southampton but in so doing they probably helped move Southampton forward as a club.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Of course we won't as all we've heard so far are carefully leaked stories from the Parish camp which may or may not be true. Perhaps when Frank de Boer has cashed his cheque there may be some carefully leaked stories from his side too and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

We're still waiting to hear the truth about Pulis and Allardyce leaving and I don't suppose that we ever will there either

''Gradual'' and ''evolution'' and ''results over style'' to then change to ''right 3-4-3 suits us'' for a team that it clearly doesn't and a net spend of £40 mil is pretty damning. Then there's the messing with Luka, one of our most important players. Similar with Ward and hanging him at wing back. As long as he watches a training session he'll e able to do it. No he won't. This is the hardest league because it's the richest and he was risking it to show what he could do asap.

Parish and players aren't excused but Frank came in and turned about face, nobody else.

The idea that Parish has been unlucky with managers is ludicrous. Had it happened once maybe even twice then I could accept that. The amount we have had is down to poor planning in some cases and maybe even him.
Not knocking him as a chairman as pointed out 5 years in the prem hasn't been done before.

Lets not forgot.
Freedman left whatever promises if he liked parish so much he'd have stayed.
Holloway got us promoted but his record was dreadful. Everyone forgets that as we got promoted.
Pulis whatever we think if he liked Parish enough he'd have stayed. Even if he didn't get the money on transfers he wanted. If you like your boss you tend to stick around
Same applies to Big Sam. If he enjoyed working with Parish he'd have stayed I am sure of that.

Maybe Parish is just a difficult guy to work with/for. All these managers point to this.

De Boer was just a poor hire.

Allardyce kept us up got a nice bonus couldn't be asked with another season battling relegation, had certain stipulations in his contract so decided it was better to retire and keep the 3 mill bonus

Pulis wanted to sign certain players using certain agents, receiving a percentage of the signing on fee in a brown envelope. Parish went over his head and signed zaha, pulis got the hump and walked out.

As I said, all we've heard are carefully orchestrated leaks which may or may not be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Personally I have always thought that there was more to it in both resignations

As I recall we we're favourites for relegation to League One at the start of 2012-13 and were promoted.

Still a premier league club four years on and an FA Cup final.

Clueless isn't he ?
