I think we could try Loftus-Cheek as a false number 9. He has the height and pace, and from what I have seen so far he has the football brain to adjust. Might just work as a temporary measure.

Midfield could be Cabaye slightly pushed up, Luka and McCarthur/Puncheon in a holding role. Then Zaha and Townsend on either wing and RLC through the middle. They could all swap with each other which could cause some weaker teams some problems.

I would prefer this to trying out a youth player (not the time for this) or dipping into the free market and picking up someone like Carlton Cole or Ricky Lambert, both of whom will take about 4 weeks to be match fit by which time what is the point?

We are a club who always does well with our backs against the wall, and at present this is as bad as it can get. I have to stay optimistic. If we are still in with a shout in January I can see us spending big on a keeper and centre forward.

Here's praying...

Yep, because all those top players will be queuing up to join palace in january. ...

No reason why not if we start to get a few points under our belt. We've got an exciting squad of players to join and improve now days.

Short memory mate. Last January we were in trouble and the players we got were pretty good in my opinion.

I love it on here, try and be optimistic and get shot down as per normal.

Is that you Mr.Parish? We had the likes of Benteke and Zaha (except African Cup of Nations) playing out last season. Best players are already out injured with no cover to match their standards. Truth is that the preparation for this season has been based on short term thinking especially where the transfer market was concerned. Start planning for life in The Championship....

If this is not the time to throw in a youngster, we might as well do like Huddersfield and get rid of the academy!

I'm fuming about the situation. Yes we are in the best position the club has ever been in blah blah, but we've been mugged off as fans. I don't feel sorry for the board, I feel sorry for all of us who pay our money and just expect the club to be run properly in return. An absolute shambles on the pitch and behind the scenes. The only bit of the club that doesn't deserve to get relegated at the moment is the support.

Lots of 'children' on here who can't handle bad times. Lots of screaming and throwing toys out of the pram. That's football live with it or go and do something else that isn't competitive.

Talking out of your backside. Sure there are many on here who have been through far worse, which merely adds to the infuriation when we are in such a good position and manage to cock it up. Or is everything hunky dory, bottom of the table, no goals, 2nd manager and no recognised striker for the next 2 months ?

He lives in Malta, doesn't go, so isn't so 'involved', and frankly has some contempt for a lot of his British counterparts.

This injury might not be as bad as first it seems,

During the period Benteke will be injured we have games against United, Chelsea and Spurs, games if we are honest we are not likely to get much from, which means that its probably more important to stop the opposition from playing which often starts with strikers closing down the defenders which isn't Christians strongest area but it could be something that a young hungry striker might me more willing to do
