Made me laugh. I think we all agree Wickham would benefit from game time. If he could play week in week out for a championship team it would certainly aid his recovery. Then a strong pre season and he could be in contention next season. Maybe off to Cardiff then?

So just to clarify. We signed him on wages estimated to be 60k a week. In the last 4 seasons he's played 26 games for us, scoring 5 goals. He's had six different injuries spending 703 days out and causing him to miss 96 games for us. If the wages and days missed figures are accurate, I make that 6 million quid paid while he's been injured. With his contract running out and a chance to get rid, we give him a new deal. Having finally got him back to fitness, we're loaning him out.

I get your point but in fairness he's looked incredibly rusty since this latest comeback. Not being injured isn't the same as being match fit. If a championship club feel they can use him every game anyway then great. We can't. The new contract was just to try and protect the value of the saleable asset I presume, such as it is in Wickhams case.

Come on twice and effectively scored two goals. Absolute madness letting him go...best striker coming into fitness and letting him leave. Can't believe it.
