One of our own. Sad to see someone dying thirty or forty years ahead of their time. RIP

Met him at Ayresome Park in 1994 along with Bob Mortimer. A pukka fan. Malcolm Allison signed a bottle of Middlesbrough red wine for us that day too.

I was very Sad when I heard the news. A great comic.

I remember seeing him coming out of the stadium after we lost to Leicester in the play off final.

RIP Sean Hughes.
He was one of the few celebrity Palace fans on TV when I was a teenager. I seem to remember he used to appear on TV quite often in a Palace shirt. A sad loss and was very sad to hear of his passing.

Death by Sean Hughes

I want to be cremated

I know how boring funerals can be

I want people to gather

meet new people

have a laugh, a dance, meet a loved one.

I want people to have free drink all night.

I want people to patch together, half truths.

I want people to contradict each other

I want them to say 'I didn't know him but cheers'

I want my parents there,

adding more pain to their life.

I want the Guardian to mis-sprint three lines about me

or to be mentioned on the news

Just before the 'parrot who loves Brookside' story.

I want to have my ashes scattered in a bar,

on the floor, mingle with sawdust,

a bar where beautiful trendy people

Will trample over me… again

I was saddened to hear the news of Sean's passing - taken so young at the age of 51.

I have this very hazy memory of Sean Hughes speaking to supporters in Crystals many, many years ago but it might have been some other celebrity - my memory isn't what it used to be !

Sean will be cheering us on from above.

RIP.

Here's the short film he did which was partially recorded at Selhurst and the Palace Training ground at the time featuring Sir Steve, Salad, Chris Armstrong and Eddie McGoldrick:
