Just dont think he will get that unique Palace love we are well know for at CFC. Another season with us would make him a better player all round and keep that team momentum going we had towards the end.

He enjoyed himself with us, which is something he may well lose at CFC...

I wouldn’t completely dismiss the idea of him playing in a Palace shirt again. Not sure if he would want to be a squad player at Chelsea next season, and it won’t be lost on him the fact that if he hadn’t joined us he most probably wouldn’t have got a look in as a full England international.

I am remaining positive on this, but whatever happens we have got to wish him the best of luck whatever he decides to do.

Congratulations to the lad. Not sure he would have been near the WC squad had he still been at Chelsea!
He might well think long and hard about next season as will one or two others that Chelsea own.
Would younger players like him rather be playing each week and getting Premiership experience/exposure with smaller clubs like Palace as opposed to occaisional/benchwarming outings with larger top six ones?

I hadn’t realised Who his older (half) brother that played for us is. Well until Warnock shipped him out anyway

Be funny if he was all set to sign for Palace yesterday but is now fuming his 6 week Magaluf binge is on hold because of his call-up.

Can just imagine him throwing books around his Agents office. "You said if we went to Palace there's no way the FA would allow me to go to the World Cup, no matter how well I play!"

Like a footie version of The Producers.

Pretty rubbish comment. Just read the same in HTC. As if CPFC or RLC did not think the latter would go to Russia! His price will go up for sure but that was expected. But there are so many variables.

Who is going to manage CFC next is the biggest one. Will he favour RLC and vice versa?

Does RLC want regular first XI play which World Cup or not is hardly guaranteed at Chelsea.

What does RLC want himself - do you know? I don’t.

One other point for now - writing as an Eagle - does RLC want to be with a developing vibrant club with a new stadium and raucous fans (even Mourhino was jealous!) or stay with a club on a slow slide?

Don’t discount a permanent move yet.

He’s right, IMO He’s right anyway

If palace somehow buy loftus there’s no way we can afford the pacey striker we need nor winger, hell, mostly any other decent squad player, we could buy loftus for 25-30 mil deffo but would be left with no further funds as recent history and ffp shows.

The only outcome would be Roy changes his tune and sells benteke, or loftus signs on loan again.

With the squad announced by Gareth Southgate I cant see us doing that well in the World Cup so there’s no certainty that RLCs value will increase that much.

How well did Southgate know RLC prior to him playing for us? GS has been around the England youth set up for a number of years and imagine a lot of the players in the “young squad” are there because of his knowledge of them. Their performance this season would have been a major factor although part of me wonder if GS is setting out to create something for the future. If it works he’s a hero and has a legacy to build on or retire from. If it doesn’t then “well we took a gamble and it didn’t pay off.”

He's not keeping Matic out of the first team, and even if he does get first team football, his peak level is not much higher than us, maybe Everton? I can't see us getting many bids IMO, he's not really better than what the top six have already in that position. Anyone in the bottom 13 might be interested, but that's a sideways move, no chance.

Hmmm, I’m not sure about this- I would suggest that he is certainly good enough, when you compare him to Bakayoko and Xhaka.
He is the best all round player I think I’ve seen in a Palace shirt.
He is the best piece of business we’ve done in a very long time, and I think we would be playing Championship football if we didn’t have him, notwithstanding Wilf

Indeed but probably not Palace
