We were never really going for him. I suspect we were willing pawns in a transfer game.

Batshuayi would make you pine for Benteke to come back.

Problem with Beneteke is he scores but does little else, even that is a bit over generous, he is not going to get goals out of nothing like Defoe, he will score if they are provided. His record amounts to a goal every other game so roughly a 15 goal a season forward. He will win headers but ain't going chase down defenders and lost causes. So what do we really want from a forward, we want some who is going to score 15 plus goals a year, weighs in with assists, chases lost causes can create goals from nothing and we want that for under £30m? Beneteke is not going to endeer himself because he is going to do little else than score and if isn't scoring he provides little else. One supporter of hacking argued that without it "you will do away with the courage and pluck of the game, and I will be bound to bring over a lot of Frenchmen who would beat you with a week's practice -Blackheath secretary at first meeting of the F.A

Rondon is a poor mans Benteke (if there is such a thing), we need someone like Tammy Abraham, with a bit of speed and movement around the box although he is another loan and not likely to be available. I would be looking outside the premier league for a striker, as there are few good ones and even less actually available or likely to be available. We simply have to trust in Dougie to come up with the goods this January.
