As I have said for a long time. This is why we can't allow refugees to come here as they please. They will never stop coming. The same applies to all immigrants from countries affected by climate change. We have to protect what we have.

I would allow in a set number of refugees but essentially I agree with your protection point in general as valid on immigration.

The British tax payers pay for the British system and being British should come first.

What's the point of saying that whataboutery? Doubts on climate change isn't reduced to a left/right thing.

Immigration numbers should be a matter of choice for the government of the day, that is why I voted for Brexit. Not because I want to pull up the drawbridge but I do want a sensible managed immigration policy.

If we decided to allow in thousands of refugees as a humanitarian gesture the government of the day could reduce numbers from elsewhere to balance it out. Or they could just increase the overall numbers but they would have to answer to the electorate at some point.

I find it ridiculous that EU citizens can come to the country looking for work without any firm job offer, financial support, place to live etc. That doesn't make them bad people but neither are they refugees. Outside of the EU most countries would demand workers have job offers and proof they can survive financially without the support of the taxpayer.

No, I just find it hilarious that people who say they doubt global warming are warning of a refugee crisis due to global warming.

I don't think many are questioning whether climate is changing. It is just the causes that are still in question. That does not affect the result.

A strawman argument designed to deflect from reality if ever I saw one.
It's tough when experts say exactly what you don't want to hear I suppose. I expect that you would like us to believe that allowing migrants here every time they have a crisis is a good idea.

This is why that is bollocks.

Yep you'd know this whilst watching Brexit unravelling.

So there are to be more refugees due to climate, I don't disagree. We should be building infrastructure across the world to cope with such a crisis.

No doubt there will be some who don't give a f*** and do all they can to 'keep them out'

Only in your imagination.

Who is we?
Countries need to get their own house in order. They squander funds via corruption and internal conflicts and we are expected to pick up the bill?

So I guess the global solution is to let these people drown, starve, or at best become ever further radicalised against the people and nations who have the money to survive?

We are acting as if global warming may not affect us, an island nation. We already have record flooding in places like Devon and Cornwall every year, the Thames Barrier is currently being used 6-7 times a year, an unprecedented amount, and may be inadequate if sea levels rise exponentially. And of course, many scientists predict the gulf stream will alter course, leaving us with sub-zero winters, and more susceptible to even more extreme forms of weather.

I'm guessing if these things do happen - your house is flooded, or London reaches the temperature levels of the plains of Canada, (we are after all a similar distance away from the equator) - and we need to seek refuge either here or abroad, it would be unnacceptable for our neighbouring countries and regions to shut the door and watch us all die?

Remember that the countries mainly affected by climate change are the ones least responsible for it - Yemen, Palestine, Bangladesh. We have a responsibility to act as a global community to tackle what is a global problem. To turn a blind eye is, in my opinion, tantamount to murder.

I don't think you understand the seriousness of population increase and climate change in the long term.
We can't afford to be charitable. When the s*** hits the fan big time, there will be no human kindness, only human suffering. Rather than wait for it to happen and invite it to our doorstep, we must make plans now to avoid the worst of it. As it is, our ability to sustain ourselves is poor if imports become disrupted. Imagine a population double what it is now. Water running out, food running out, vast amounts of people homeless or living in shanty towns, violence and disease everywhere. That is our future.
