? What are (if any) the advantages of waiting till the end of the transfer window to buy, if we have our targets then we go straight away right ? (I have the utmost faith in the owners, but just genuinely interested into the normal palace game plan with transfers)

If we have targets then the groundwork will have been done by now. It's all about getting the players in from here on. Hopefully, Sunday's performance should help to persuade anyone who might have been harbouring doubts about coming.

However, Roy will not be calling out his shopping list from the roof tops so chill and enjoy the uncertainty of the next few weeks. It's what New Year is all about!!!

Well, it's been said that we shot our foot in the last window, now is another window, and we still have the other foot...I wonder what will happen? I know! Let's wait until the very last minute of the window! We might save a few quid! After all, we'll still have all the negotiating leverage over the agent in the very last minute, won't we??? Here we go again...

The only advantage is that sometimes the selling club might drop the price although some clubs may need to sell players before splashing the cash.

The disadvantages often outweigh the advantages though as whilst we sit and wait someone else might snap up our target

None as far as I can see. We need to get our business done as early as possible and avoid another Niasse farce.

I'm not sure it's as simple as saying "we" leave it to the last minute. You can select your targets and even agree a price for a player...but if the selling club want to find a replacement before they sell then that is often when deals start to stall. It is the same as buying a house in a chain. There is more than one person who can cause a delay in the deal going through.

I think the clubs have come to terms with how the window works and how difficult it can be to do business in...the fans are a little harder to please because of course we are never fully in the know on the details of each deal.

Allegedly that is one of the reasons why our summer bid for the Turkish striker failed as we left it until the last minute and they couldn't find a replacement with only one day's notice

Parish has said he prefers to leave it till the last minute and 18-19 clubs don't in the summer. We do it in both windows.

What you're saying may happen in some cases but not most and when it's a position you can't afford to have no cover in, you don't wait for it to be perfectly set for you to the deal. You just have to, unless you don't mind a serious relegation threat.

I am sure if we approach a club/agent now with 3 week's of the window still open they think of a number and double it, its all well and good saying do the transfers now but for example if Niassi's agent says he wants 150k a week do we just do the deal! We have an 80 million per annum wages bill as it is, financially we 'cant just do the deal at any cost' so leaving it late means there is a chance we can get a more realistic deal done with obvious risks in Niassi's case in August.
