What with FdB not seeing his 5th league game before getting the boot and Pellegrino (if to be believed the other choice at the time) looking to be a fish out of water also...just how good is the Chairman's due diligence?

Do we dare hope that he already has a 'backup' plan for when Roy leaves us? If so, are we confident that he'd pick the right candidate first time round?

He made an error, rectified it and we are back on schedule.
Well done Mr Parish.
Hopefully Roy will see out his contract.

SP has done very well to appoint Roy that is certain. I still have doubts that SP is wise enough yet football-wise. His love and desire is not in question. If you look at other owners/chairmen in PL we are doing just fine, WBA as an example to sack Pulis was sheer madness!!

He has already made three great choices: Pulis, Sam and now Roy. He also acted fast to correct his mistakes: FDB and Pardew. We are in great hands with him, even allowing for his comparative inexperience, and we are lucky to have a home-grown owner who cares about the club. The owners of Arsenal and Man Utd are at war with the supporters. Other teams benefit from untold riches, such as Citeh and Chelsea, but do we really want to go that route?

No harm in planning ahead, so, who's available when Roy leaves?

I’m no Parish acolyte but by:
1. appointing RH and
2. signing Wilf up on a new contract
he has atoned for his other mistakes. He deserves the plaudits for making these crucial decisions.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time I thought FDB was a mistake, personally I wanted Dyche but Pellegrino and Silva both looked sensible alternatives at the time, indeed many people castigated SP for not appointing Silva who is beginning to look a bit flaky at Watford.

In terms of replacing Roy when the time comes, I don't think anyone can answer that. No one knows when that time will be nor does anyone know whose star will be in the ascendancy at that time and whose will be on the wane.

All you can do as a club is keep yourself aware of what options are out there and re-visit the list on a regular basis so that you aren't starting with a blank sheet of paper when the time does come.

Not sure he acted fast to rectify his mistake with Pardew. I'd say the opposite is true.

Its not as easy as it looks, even big clubs struggle to sign the right manager, when they have the clout and pull to bring in almost anyone.

Man Utd went with Moyes and Van Gall

Look at how many managers went to Chelsea after Mourino and failed. Same with City. Even with almost limitless resources, by comparison to spend on players - They've had some serious failures (by their standard).

It plagues everyone, getting the right lead with the right skill, at the right time. Even with managers who have a long carved out career they tend to be 'rather specialist'.

Ferguson and Wenger are the exceptions. We're lucky that Hodgeson oversaw the debacle of England - Before that he was something unusual - a proven track record manager with a long history of moderate success.

oh good, here comes the Parish bashing. Only 28 days to go for certain supporters to not realise how good we've got it!
