That to me is the difference between being cruel and offensive and being humorous. Well said Becky, I basically came to say the same thing but you've put it much better than I could. ...and Park Road, anyone that backs up their argument using the Big Bang Theory has already lost.

Most comedy is making a joke out of something - so you could end up being insulted by anything if you try hard enough. I have quite a high tolerance to near the knuckle comedy and will laugh at Frankie Boyle's material if it's done well. I've never understood people who are easily offended. A fair few seem to be the Charlie Church types who take the moral high ground. That annoys me. When people tut at a blasphemy - I mean you're getting insulted by someone taking your favourite fictional being's name in vain??! There is or used to be, a sick joke thread on here. I think it may not last another 5 years. (Sorry you didn't want a discussion - put me in the Funny camp).

It's borderline racist, hateful to "geek" and comics culture, has some severe problems in the way it treats women (getting them drunk to sleep with them, spying on them, Howard is basically a sympathetic sexual predator). I have no problems with edgy humor (I love Always Sunny ((which is a masterclass in how to do this type of humor and can be far more "offensive" than BBT but ends up not being, due to it's brilliant writing)), The League, Curb Your Enthusiasm) on the proviso that it is funny unfortunately BBT, in my opinion and in the opinion of many others isn't. Well I gave you a list of a few shows, you should definitely check out It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, if you haven't already, I think you'd probably like it. I think you'll find that BBT is generally disliked amongst "nerds" because of it's bullying stereotypical tone. I think that may explain the problem you have with this "Woy" issue, bullying and humor are completely incompatible in my book, I just don't find it funny, I know many people do, otherwise a lot of bullying wouldn't happen, but it's just not my thing. I'm not saying that the "Woy" thing is actual full-on bullying because I know the people that are saying it don't intend to bully Roy but it is leaning far more to that end of the spectrum than to the humorous end. I also have a sneaking suspicion some people here are using the term just to wind others up (which, actually, ironically I find funnier despite myself, but it is childish and we should knock it on the head). I'm all for freedom of speech but it comes with the responsibility of knowing when not to say something too, that's equally if not more important than just shooting your mouth off. So much for no discussion eh? Haha anyway have a nice Sunday.
