Benteke might be better at assisting Sorloth. I had noticed he was trying to assist lately....and he would also benefit having another big guy around to take the pressure off.

I think they will help each other out yes definitely but it needs to be happen quickly or we will have a few problems if it doesn't work out hopefully it does.

Big, strong and quick. If his first touch is good then he should fit in well to our team. Unlike some other foreign players that flop he looks like he's strong enough and having already played in different countries he should be able to settle. He also seems like a nice lad, which I know isn't important but it helps with building relationships with everyone involved in the club. The other big thing is that with a lack of competition he should get plenty of game time to prove himself.

I have a really good feeling about this one.

I wouldn't mind betting Benteke has a bigger assist record this season than many in the Palace team, particularly Wilf.

If both Benteke and Sorloth play, who is left out of the team?

Sorloth and Benteke up front with Wilf and Andros on the wings, Cabaye/McArthur and Luka in central midfield. Of course, Sorloth, Benteke, Wilf and Andros are our only attacking options at all, so more likely that we'll play with one striker so that we at least have someone on the bench.

Benteke 2017/18 assists - 4
Zaha - 2
Townsend - 7

Cant say i'm a great afficiendo of Danish football, but i'd estimate it's a few steps down from the Eredeviste. Didnt Robin Van Wolfswinkle score absolute hatfuls in that, and Dirk Kuyt? (the latter was actually decent, but just never remotely prolific in England).

It's a punt on a kid who may or may not turn out to be decent in a year / 18 months. No way can you expect a player from Danish / Polish / Swedish leagues to come in and compete on an even footing in the EPL from day one. They may become good players, but at this juncture, massively massively risky.

I think you could say the same about the Brazilian Serie A, but look at how many talented kids come from there.

This made me cringe more than somewhat.

The player we got in instead of course is Sørloth, who is very welcome and should be great in the future, but anyone who thinks he's going to come straight in and do what Bakary Sako was doing is on glue. Reading that text you would be thinking more in terms of Babacar or Dembele.

And were we not going to sign Sørloth anyway?

Yeah I know. 'At the very last minute, we needed to sign an attacker due to injury.'

Someone must've panicked when presented with a beige folder with the word "Goosed" stamped across the front and containing Sako's X-rays.

Hate Wet Spam even more now. Disgusting.

He looks great. He reminds me a bit of a young David Swindlehust.

(Swindlehurst was brilliant in the youth team. He was so good Malcolm Allison gave him his debut at 17.)

In those days, Palace had the same attitude to blooding young players as Grace Brothers had to Young Mr Grace.

You're all doing very well Roy.

As I recall he wasn't very good in his early games for the first team. Took him a fair while to hit his stride.
