Ah -brings back memories of Simon Rodger bending one in. A scoring opportunity from every corner he took.

Looking at the stats on Whoscored, we have the fourth lowest number of goals scored from set pieces - 5, which was higher than I thought anyway.

Does a penalty count as a set piece?

Lukas corners were great at West Ham until Cabaye came on and took over

Yup.

Cabaye at set pieces gives easy to - to -read arm signals:

One arm raised = crap

Two arms raised = crap.

Why is he the only one entrusted with the job when, for season after season, he has done nothing with them?

This. He whipped in some really dangerous corners before cabay took over..

The following is a list of our plyers who can hit a decent dead ball:

Milivojevic
Hennessey

So it seems pretty straightforward to me.

Totally agree corners and crosses in general need to be drilled in faster. Its not an exact science just fire it in the mixer .... mad scramble....someone stabs it in...lucky bounce even an own goal can happen.

Don't think so. We have 4 of those, equal with Leicester and only fewer than City and Everton.

Supporters get very excited when a corner is awarded to their team but I think only about 3% of goals in the PL come directly from a corner kick.

Can I also bring up the subject of our crossing in general? Yesterday in the second half we kept getting either WZ or PVA in good positions on the left, but it was then ages before a cross came in (if at all), WZ is the main culprit here as he seems to want to beat the defender at least twice before he'll do anything. Having said that though, his crosses are often disappointing anyway. Get the ball in early before the defence have time to get organised. Really we make this game far too complicated at times.

Please keep Cabaye away from any set pieces (as I've posted on countless occasions). On corners they are either floaters (easy pickings for defenders) or don't make it past the near post. His free kicks are poor too, rarely making it over the wall. Wouldn't mind seeing Townsend take corners and try to whip some in and Luka on free kicks.
