My concern would be that unless the season is extended, when would the matches that currently take place over the Xmas period be completed. The probable implication of a winter break is a reduction in the number of teams in the Premier league.

Good for you and I?

TV companies won't lose any money, you'll still play the same amount of games! They'll find something to put on during the break.

Imagine it would come after Christmas, hopefully New years would be the first match day off as that's the worst match day of the year.

Maybe non-league clubs will benefit from extra supporters who cannot see their Professional team play.

Germany stick their cup games in midweek instead of on the weekend like we do, works fine. A winter break isn't unheard of, all the big leagues in Europe do it except us. They all have 20 teams and start/finish in the same time period as the Premier league.

Germany only have 18 teams.

In favour of a break and midweek FA Cup games.

I'd be in favour of getting rid of cup replays with trade off that Premier League teams get none of the revenue if playing against a lower league side.

I am against purely selfishly but I can't imagine the winter without football it is our way of life.

What would we do with ourselves?

Bill Shankly - 'football is not a religion'

'It is far more important than that'.

No chance they will reduce the teams.

I’m all for it, 4 games in 2 weeks is a joke. One team gets a couple of extra days and they suddenly have a huge advantage.

This break should cut down on the injuries that most teams suffer at this point in the season.

This last festive period we played 4 games in 10 days !

I can see in time a European League with the top teams playing in it as well as in their domestic league and in England the PL teams not competing in the League Cup.

Yeah I meant to say in under 2 weeks that’s crazy. When you look at our luck with injuries this season, you’d have to say a winter break would be beneficial.

I can’t see a superleague in it, surely that would negate the Champion league?

Can't wait for the "top teams" to f*** off and create their own little spectacle which I will completely ignore. Not in a combo though with a full domestic competition. I fondly remember the days when European games were played without group games and "free drawing".
