I heard this very briefly mentioned at the end of a new item today.

2018 is 7 weeks old and 13 people have been stabbed to death.

Yet the media and social media is mainly focusing on Trump with brexit intervals and occasional mentions of May and Corbyn.

There were 80 last year. Who is surprised anymore? This is the country our politicians wanted.

Sadly nowadays life is cheap.
Not for the people directly involved but from more than two people away who cares. Not morally but emotionally.
It won't get better but if you compare to what happens in the usa!!! Say no more
RIP all here and abroad.

School shootings are a lot more frighting.
But we can’t do anything about what’s happening in the USA.
We could do something in the UK but no one is interested.

I think the interest is there, but the dicks who carry and use knives and if not associate with ones who do , don't give a toss.
If five years for carrying was implemented not only would the jails and youth offender centres be chocka. The PC 'oh that's a bit harsh' brigade would be all over it.
Somewhat of a losing battle I'm afraid to say.

This was one of the reasons we moved our children from South London. A shocking and perhaps derogatory statement but nevertheless true.

I must say bar that when I moved to Kent that thought wasn't on my mind about the violence ,as really only recently it has reared its ugly head.
But now I am so pleased I did and for my boys I'm sure it has shielded them from this.
I was born and brought up in Croydon which way back as written on earlier posts in my youth it was fantastic. Alas no more.

correct. we could always assign them some hard labour/community service ? and also publicly shame them for carrying a knife. That is done in other countries.

Well 5 of them were on New Year's day, so the stats had a bad head start.

Maybe the media and social media should focus less on saying how unfair stop and search is and more on why it is targeted to certain groups. Take those 13 deaths you mention, I wonder how many are of them are from the group who feel they are overtly targeted for stop and search?

No he's too busy working out why he's got no budget due to his, inner London only (that's where my voters are), fare freeze and why there are hundreds of TFL registered cab drivers operating anywhere but within London.
