I don't think it's a signal of any special skills from SP, he seems to have difficulty in getting any contracts signed these days unless player has a sick note in which case Palace is a good nursing home for them!

Maybe there are relegation release clauses on some of them to try to get the transfer to that fee trigger but it can still go through lower than that trigger, especially if there's a high wage involved and/or no bidding war and/or what is a mediocre player for either prem or those wages.
