I've been chastised for making predictions on this very thread.

I'd argue that it would be better to vote for any party who has a manifesto that promises adequate funding for public services funded by more reasonable levels of taxation.

Currently the only party offering that is Labour.

Labour would also do more in terms of food safety and preventing questionable meat entering or being produced in the UK.

Then you don't understand politics. Promises mean nothing and the Labour Party always fail to deliver a better NHS and always waste money on unnecessary mamagement. No one will ever vote for more tax.

The NHS has gone from a wonderful idea of giving care to people no matter what your status in life was,to a great big money pit of a monster.

And the sooner it is stopped being used as a political football the better. It was never designed to be what it is today.

Ludicrous statements. You clearly don't understand the NHS or people or tax.

We spend less on healthcare than Economies such as France and Germany and significantly less than the US, who waste inordinate amounts of money on health administration due to their terrible and inefficient system.

The Labour Party were in power for 13 years. Did they 'fix' the NHS?
Do you think people who vote Labour will vote to reduce their disposable income?

Do you live in a Lefty fantasy?

An increase in taxation to fund the NHS is hardly a 'lefty fantasy'.

A solution to the annual shocking scenes is needed, and yes it will cost.

You don't seem to understand anything but promoting the EU and the Labour party, yet you try to come across as if you're intelligent and/or knowledgable in your posts.

Just because you post loads don't think that it hides the nonsense that you trot out.

Optimistic as ever

And how many tax increases do you propose to sanction?

The cost of the NHS will continue to rise as population increases and the scope of its services increase.
The only way to fix the NHS is to limit that expectation.
It cannot provide for everything and everyone all the time. The service has to become more focused.

David Willetts, the former Tory minister, has proposed a 15p tax increase on wealthy baby boomers and replacing regressive council tax with a property levy.

This isn't leftist fantasy. It's understanding the problem and looking for solutions, taking advice from tax experts and looking at evidence from around the globe.

It's also educating the public to appreciate that tax isn't a penalty or something to be proud of avoiding, but quite the opposite. It's the contributions we make to live in a functioning society with good public services, a fair welfare state and greater equality of opportunity.

This is all interconnected, from falling standards in meat production and pressure to drop standards from industry lobbies, to failing NHS, cuts in school budgets, the paucity of social care, and so on.

Thankfully there are lots of ideas out there which are being actively considered by progressive parties which actively seek to reduce inequality and improve public services drawing on real world evidence and innovative thinking, use of technology and tax systems. The main thing preventing these ideas from being applied is the paralysed government and their austerity dogma, allied to a mania for Brexit at the cost of every other aspect of policy.

You seem to only post ad hominem attacks. I've not once read a post of yours with any substance in. I'm sorry if you object to points of view which are different from yours and refuse to look at the evidence or engage with the argument.

Your posts on this have been limited to saying why worry about the future and this won't happen (but without any reasoned argument or evidence).

My basis for saying that this is a possibility is stated policy and modelling from the ERG wing of the Tory party to which our PM is in thrall.
