The resenting, scornful tripe on here does my nut.
With Sakho, Meyer and Benteke stealing similar salaries from the club, they and their agents knowing the grass isn't greener elsewhere and none of them fit to lace Wilf's boots, why is it that so many feel our star player deserves such negativity? He has more than paid his dues. God knows where we would be without him over these past (many) seasons.

Totally agree.
Some on here are just vile with the comments they come out with ... totally uncalled for ...

Another thing people: STOP taking everything you read as gospel, as some of the S*** you read in the press is clearly that, S***.

FACT: Zaha wants to play at a higher level. That, as fans, is all we know. And, good luck to him, and thanks for everything, if the right chance comes along.

He's bled red n blue for years. Is probably the most talented player we've ever had and yet the knives are still with some of the 'fans' on here.

Embarrassing.

I saw the Everton thing as him being backed into the corner once it became apparent to the wider public that he wanted to leave, with this being more of a last resort than a preferred choice. Also, in fairness, if you looked at Everton's outlay in the last few seasons they should be challenging for Champions League football and might well do next season with Ancelotti in place.

The guy is still in his twenties and hasn't killed anyone. Is he greedy? Maybe, but then he didn't grow up rich and so money probably seems pretty important to him. He can use that money to support not just himself but his family and close friends. Perhaps the charity things is a tax thing, but when he's spoken about his foundation and his charity work he seems pretty genuine and his time in the Ivory Coast has clearly opened his eyes.

The fact remains he is probably still our only player who regularly produces something out of nothing.

I really don't get this theory that Zaha is after more money. It is a matter of record that he gives a set 10% of his wages to charities in the UK and Ivory Coast. If he's greedy, that's a funny way of showing it.

The more likely explanation is that he wants to play at the highest level he can, simply for the football. I for one totally understand that, just like I understand that he signed a big contract with us of his own free will and can only leave if we get the price we want.

He seems to understand that too.

If he understands that we want a certain price, why did he sack his agent, who was unable to engineer a move last summer.

He is valuable to Palace, but not as valuable to the clubs, who can afford the fee. His best option was Man Utd, as if they will pay 80m for that donkey McGuire, they will buy anyone, but he has burnt his bridges there.

He is our go to man. When all else fails give it to Wilf.
He plays when injured, he pretty much tries his hardest all of the time, he tracks back and gets kicked to pieces week in and week out.
Does he have flaws - yes he does and so do all of us - so what!
I am getting on now and he is the best player week in and week out that I have seen play for Palace and I have been going since the Sixties.
He deserves our unreserved support and the chance to perform higher up the chain as well.

I think that, if he was keen, Wilf must have viewed Everton as a more likely stepping stone to his true ambitions than Palace.

however it's played out, it wasn't an insane analysis at the time

I'd presume he sacked his agent in favour of one with more influence who could persuade a champions league club to pay the price we want. Much the same as you or I using a different estate agent if the one we were with couldn't get a buyer for our house at the market price.

And surely the point here is that it's the other way around - he is more valuable to us than he would be to most potential buyers? Otherwise he'd be long gone.

I totally agree. Apart from the bit about going since the 60s, which I can't claim myself!

If we win tonight, we will go level on points with Sheffield United, who have City next, and 1 point behind Wolves, who have Liverpool. 6th and 7th place are likely to get you a place in the Europa League. If we show a bit of ambition we could well be playing at a higher level next season.

No doubt Roy will just stick everyone behind the ball again and play for a draw like he's done against Brighton, Norwich, Southampton, Newcastle, Watford, Bournemouth. Many might also say it will result with us being in a relegation scrap next year, which even more negative that my attitude.

Not disagreeing with most of what you say, if fact your 100% right about supporting him but i have to disagree about being the best player week in week out. Kenny Samson was better by a long way and like you I've been going since the 60's sometimes it feels a lot longer.

You seem to be forgetting that it's Roy's tactics that have got us within touching distance of 6th and 7th.

No. I realise that. I'm sticking with the argument that we have the 9th highest wage bill and we are 9th in the league, making the performance average. He's an average manager. He's good at what he does but doesn't seek to improve. Our 9 draws is a telling sign of how we are set up and what we are playing for.

Unrelated point, but can everyone going tonight give Ward-Prowse plenty of grief. Dirty little gimp has a go at Wilf every time we play them.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.
