Last season P37 GD -11 Pts 41 Safety
12 wins

This season P37 GD -12 Pts 41 Safety
10 wins

Stats don’t tell the whole story though. Which has been the better season and why?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

If we don't consider the first seven games, then clearly this season!

Not sure. We have been much better (after the opening games) against other bottom half of the table teams this season, but apart from Chelsea at home, we haven't beaten any of the big boys, unlike last year.

In the end I think this season shades it as we started getting results earlier as opposed to last year when we had to wait until well after Christmas and Sam was a few games into his reign.

This season IMO.
The quality of the football has been on a different level under Roy and we’ve found home form.

Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed the wins over Chelsea, Liverpool and especially Arsenal last season.

The attacking play this season has been so fluid and great to watch, so I'm enjoying a rescue job that involves flowing football rather than going back to basics (not that I had any problems with Sam's style).

Yes, one thing that has happened this season under RH is that we have attacked through the middle of the field more.Previously our only attacking plan seemed be to get the ball out to the wings - Wilf, Bolasie,Puncheon and lately Andros. That was okay but made us very predictable.

Ignoring the butt-clenching horror of the start, the number of late goals we have conceded, Benteke's disappearance and Man U's comeback, we have been a better team this term. Because:

Roy
Wilf is even better
Luka
Hennessy is catching the odd one now
Somehow Sakho's two to three catastrophic errors per game go unpunished.
Jimmy Mac
RLC
I could go on.

Some of the football we have been playing in the last few games is as good, if not better than anything I have seen in some 48 years of following Palace.

So this season is better, as it hints at what we might achieve next year, if we can retain some stability through the summer.

Proud of the boys...

This season. We gave everyone a 7 game head start and have been unlucky to lose to Liverpool, Spurs, Man Utd, Arsenal but have really done well against the other teams.

Roy's press conferences were so much more uplifting and honest than those last year. We also had our 'good' manager for most of the year not just from January like last year.

We've played some great football this year, but missed a lot of chances, last year we basically took our chances but were nowhere near as fluent.

If Roy and Zaha stay, we should be pushing for top 6.

Pretty similar really in the way both seasons have/are finished/finishing.
We have improved almost imperceptibly over the last three or four months until the quick passing stuff just seemed to happen. We also have a slightly better squad and coped this season without a striker for a while and with almost a whole team out injured. Hopefully the last three seasons won't be repeated with Roy leaving close season.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).
