... "we(you - translated from Tory)'ve never had it so good". We saw yesterday a mid-table side outclassing a bottom of the table side - Burnley here we come!

Steady on.
A lot could happen before next season.
The club could be purchased by malicious Brighton loving billionaires.
The entire squad could be abducted by aliens.
A giant sink hole could swallow up Selhurst.

We've all seen worse things happen.

The quote was actually “Most of our people have never had it so good”

He also said: “Too many people live too much in the past. The past must be a springboard, not a sofa”.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

new stand of course, and with the fixtures as they are and on current form we might even get ninth this season - I am predicting our first consistently mid-table season next season, 2016 we ended up down there after a good start, this year's reverse of that is proof to me that we have progressed into a genuine mid table team, next year should prove it further.

He also said, when asked by a young aide what could possibly go wrong; "events dear boy, events".

not sure what's worse, hitler's bombs landing on Selhurst or us losing Zaha.

Winston Churchill "We will fight them on the beaches" seems to be quite apposite at this time of year.

Excellent. Or maybe “We will fight them wot are already on the beaches”.

The most energy Smalling is likely to show next weekend is when Pogba comes along and thinks he's nicked his sun lounger. Never seen such a lazy lot of layabouts.

Harold was always good for a quote or three

Taking the bungy jump since 1964. Never to see John Jackson in a shirt again

Sorry to see Lee Hills go, did we ever see Alex Marrow? We did January 2013

Losing Wilf. You can rebuild a stadium in about two years, but I have only seen players like Wilf and Vince Hilaire in those timeframes, so once in every 25 years. I am now 62 so won't be here the next time their like comes around again. We need to keep Wilf.

The “never had it so good” thing I think is often used as a smoke screen. I agree it’s a once in history time for the club, & I love staying up, but a team that can’t go beyond fighting for survival every year will eventually go down anyway.

I think we all need to chill out a little bit & the club needs to actually capitalise on what we’ve got this time. The infatuation at the club surrounding short term good & bad runs of form is is the reason why we seem to get ourselves into trouble every season.

Let’s hope Roy can actually build something in the time he’s here & leave us as a better footballing club. Not just artificially, or on paper. I think, given some of our performances under him, we have every reason to be optimistic. But the board has to back him this summer & going forward to fully implement what he wants to do, in the way he wants to do it.

He’s clearly a good manager, but his experience will mean that he’s unlikely to take circus type behaviour above him. It is imperative that Parish & co learn from previous years mistakes and are competent this summer. I’ve said on many occasions before that I don’t think we’ll have many more chances of a great escape.

If we go down, lose our best players and haven’t made any progress at the club towards our footballing philosophy because we’ve been too busy fire fighting. The 6 “never had it so good” years will count for nothing.

We're the Arthur over ere!
