On those criteria, we did have Darcy Blake in 2012/13, who got too unfit even for the reserves. Ended up switching to rugby. Ben Anderson played in 1973/74. The season of relegation from Div 2 to Div 3, under Big Mal. Roy Barry was signed that season too - another Scot tasked with beefing up the defence after the disastrous start to the season. For the record, I’m not implying that Roy Barry was a donkey. Edit: oops, sorry, I linked this to the wrong post. Edited by YT (21 Jun 2018 6.01pm)

I would say Tom Soares, but you would have to figure out if the donkey was even on the pitch first.

ITZAK ZOHAR stands out above all others. He spent the whole of a game in the centre circle - and that is not exagerating.

Big Mal. flash useless manager. What??! He wasn’t even our worst-ever manager...by miles!! Have you forgotten that he took a third division Palace to the FA Cup semi-final? I haven’t checked, but I think that was the first time it had been done, and has only been done twice (maybe thrice?) since! Only three Palace managers have taken us closer (Coppell, Pardew) or as close (Smith) to such major silverware. The 1976 away visits to Leeds (the mighty Leeds FFS, whom we outplayed) Chelsea and Sunderland (unbeaten at home all season - again, outplayed) will live in my heart until the day I die. Yes, Allison took us into the third division and fell short of getting us out of it, but I loved how he made Palace headline news for the whole time he was with us...and I’ve still got the scrapbooks to prove it! And he gave us Dave Swindlehurst (aka “The Problem”) for goodness sake! And rebranded us as the red ‘n’ blue Eagles. Edited by YT (23 Jun 2018 6.30am) Edited by YT (23 Jun 2018 6.30am)
