That block won us the game. Hopefully he takes confidence from it he will be starting the next couple of games. A couple of years ago there was a criticism that he is prone to moments when he switches off and Hodgson and Lewington last year were of the opinion that he doesn't react or get back quickly enough for the PL but yesterday he certainly never switched off and reacted with alacrity as he made that vital block so on this evidence the coaching is working to his advantage.

Thought he was very poor against Brighton but very good yesterday. Was good going forward as well as defending.

I thought he did very well yesterday. That superb block was a defining moment in the game. I hadn't seen it clearly live as I am in the Holmesdale but having seen it on MOTD he deserves great credit. I also thought he looked neat and tidy on the ball in an around the WH penalty area.

Back position is surely not made for JR, but he can pass the ball like a true footballer. Mike Kelly & Co has a lot to learn from the Dutchman - look forward to more precise passing from Jairo who is also very calm under pressure.

He grew up in the Ajax academy so he should know how to pass and they get taught how to play in every position. After a very good performance in the Man City game a few years ago i’m Surprised he hasn’t played more especially as he doesn’t seem the type to cause problems or not try in training.

Agreed. When AWB makes tackles like this everyone raves about him. There is another player who benefitted from being given a chance of a run in the team Originally posted by EddieMac

I’m glad some fellow Palace fans recognise his efforts on Thursday- what a goal saving tackle! It’s a shame we can’t fit such a good passer into the team regularly somehow.

Too calm at times which is a problem especially in his position, fantastic tackle though showed he can turn the speed on when necessary ..very promising.

Love his calmness on the ball and his passing...JR certainly has proved he is (more than) good enough for Premier league
