He won player of the month for us, well deserved. Though didn't he win it last season as well and was then dropped?

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Hopefully Roy will now play Eze.

Luka is a liability with the ball. He seemingly (in my eyes) passes the ball to the opposing side all the bloody time.

I agree but we do need a balance in the midfield of stoppers and passers. There are 4 midfield spots up for grabs. Is he going to drop Townsend, no. If Reidewald is now a nailed on starter then he needs someone who can break up play next to him which is one of the Macs.

The real issue at present as I see it with Eze is he is up against Schlupp for a starting spot. Yes I’d like to see him take a more central role but all the time Roy sees him as left midfield then this is how it is going to be and Schlupp will get the nod because he is better defensively.

When Cahill and Tomkins are fit to join Dann and Sakho as options at centre back - if this ever happens - I think Roy will again see Kouyate as a midfield player notwithstanding how well he's played as centre back.
In terms of midfield unfortunately I believe Roy will see Luka, Macarthur, and possibly even McCarthy and Kouyate ahead of Jairo in the pecking order.
Jairo will have to play out of his skin to retain his place.

Twice has Jairo played full months (January and October) - both times voted POTM. If the manager dismisses him as he did last time, I just give up.

Sorry but I still feel our other midfield players are more suited to the premier league. See him being dropped over the next few weeks and then make the odd cameo appearance . There is something lacking in his game ....

Can you enlighten me (and others) as to what exactly is missing from his game? His passing is better than any of the other CMs as is his vision and his skill on the ball. His tackling and positional sense seem (to me at least) as good as any of the others. Also he's scored a goal this season. He is also younger and is improving all the time. What's not to like?

Probably about 2 or 3 years ago, Hodgson and Lewington felt he doesn't react and get back enough quick enough for the PL and prior to that it was stated that he had moments when he switched off.

However that was some time ago.I see him as a player with composure with ball at his feet and has the pace to recover if an opponent gets past him.I think he possesses lot of intelligence with a good awareness of position and space.I see a lot of positives in his game.

He's class, every time he has played a string of games for us he's shown that, regardless of position. Him and McArthur are our best CM pair with Eze in front of them linking midfield and attack.

I'm inclined to say this is what I would like to see.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

So you would revert to 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 as per last season?

The best balanced team the way Roy likes to set up would arguably have two holding midfielders behind Eze with Schlupp and Townsend in the wide areas and Batshuayi or Ayew up top.
This would move seamlessly between 433 to 451 and have people in their natural positions and get Eze into a more central attacking role.
I’m not for one moment advocating leaving out Zaha which would obviously be ridiculous, but he does complicate the picture.
He’s not a striker who can play up front by himself.
He’s not a Schlupp or Townsend in terms of his defensive diligence.
I would like to see Zaha in a fluid front 3 along with two of the other forwards and Eze in central midfield with two holders behind him.
I just can’t see Roy playing this system which would leave us potentially outnumbered in midfield and provide little protection for the full backs .
We’d score more but also concede more.
