I like him. He adds height and athleticism to the midfield and alongside Luka should make it very hard to break us down. Plus as he can play centre-back he can fill in if necessary now that Delaney and Jach have gone, and will be more effective at defending set-pieces than Cabaye, and probably more effective at attacking them too. In today's inflated market seems a very good deal at under £10m. Well done Steve, Roy, Dougie & Co. And me too! I suggested him to this site on the 10th July which they obviously read!

After a frustrating pre season all of a sudden we are stepping up. With Max about to join we have replacements for Cabaye and RLC so the future looks bright. All I would like to see is Wilf staying and anyone else in could be the icing. On Wilf, I know this is not the right post but Mahrez going to city for £60m is a good bench mark but I think he is worth more as he hurts teams more than Mahrez. Welcome CK. Happy days

I've disliked Kouyate since he rolled around on the floor crying and screaming like a baby to get Dwight Gayle sent off at Selhurst - a habit of his it seemed to me at the time. That said, I was impressed by him when I went with my inlaws to watch West Ham at the chav-bowl last season, and he is certainly an upgrade on Jaïro Riedewald, who was too green to play centre back (especially in a back 4) but too big and heavy to play in the centre of midfield. It's a marginal gain, but a gain nonetheless, so well done to the club on this one.

I can't say I noticed him that much this season against Palace, but he looked very good with Senegal at the WC, one of the players I noticed a lot. As far as age, well he's two years younger than Macca, and only one year older than Luka so I think it's good planning, as far as keeping a solid midfield team. On thing I was not aware of was that he played with Luka at Anderlecht, so they may already have some chemistry. I think they'd form a tough duo.

His favoured position is CB , but he can play anywhere. Another steal from West Ham, how good a signing has James T been? Got to hand it to West Ham, trusting Pellegrini to manage their team. They will be calling for his sacking before the clocks go back...
