For Me, this seems reasonable base team. switching Kouyate for Macca(started not to last the 90 anyway?) when RH deems necessary!

only question is if Meyer wants to start from a deeper role? not sure....

Everything I have read is he is more of a 6 than a 10 and therefore will replace Cabaye.

Hope he doesn't suffer from the same syndrome Yohan did, which was people wrongly assuming he should be creating loads of chances and scoring goals when actually his job was to screen and collect the ball off CBs

Everyone seems to be discarding Schlupp.

Not sure how you can. Excellent against toulouse and Fulham.

Luka and Jimmy Mac were chasing shadows against Fulham. So if you had to it should be one or both of them.

In reality Roy isn't one to change a winning formula. So it will be same team again against liverpool

After only one game - why on Earth are we talking about changes ?
Only Roy Hodgson knows what his plans will be for Meyer etc.
Luka and Jimmy Mac were integral to both our survival last Season and our eventual superb finishing position.
Give me some evidence of any sort of dip in their form,or any dip in their !00% effort and commitment to the Palace Cause each and every game.
Meyer has to show Roy in training - and prove to us by coming on as substitute /or Cup tie debut before talking about him potentially replacing either of these players !

McArthur is a hard-working player who is pretty cool when offered a goal-scoring opportunity. However, he is not capable of playing many incisive passes and does take a while to recover when he loses the ball. He also turns 31 in a couple of months so is probably past his best

Meyer was extremely highly rated when he first burst on the scene and if those expectations have slightly lessened he was still a regular for Schalke last season, a team that finished second in the Bundesliga. He is 22 so if he can adapt to Premier League should have a great career with Palace

If the team want to push on, he should be given opportunities as soon as he is deemed match fit

New players have to earn their spot. Luke and Macca both very good Prem players. Stalwarts of our side. Don't expect Kaouyte or Meyer to walk in.

What surprised me about the 2 late signings was that (reportedly) they were not sufficiently fit to play. When you get paid more in a week than most supporters get paid in a year shouldn't you keep yourself fit and be ready to go?

They will probably both be on the bench for the Liverpool game .

For me though lets see what they can do ,Im hoping the Mayer lad will live up to his billing and become irreplaceable which will mean a bit of juggling from Roy with the other players

And we still need a striker

They were physically fit - gym fit if you like - but if you haven't got a team, you don't get to play football all summer, nor do you have a pre-season to get you match-sharp.

What surprises me, is that people think you can just drop a new player into a team. In Meyers case he hasn’t played any pre season games and Ayew very little. So they need to get match fit and learn the formation that Roy wants them to play in the team. If we were crap then would more than likely play on Monday, but no need to rush them in at present.
It is a long season, they will get their chance.

Watching his highlights Meyer seems to have a lovely weighted through ball pass which if used slipping Zaha in behind could cause carnage.
Id like to see Meyer Zaha and Adros all in attack.

Leave the holding job to Luka he is the man for that role. Kouyate either in there with him or in and around the middle.

West Ham fan I spoke to thee other day said Kouyate is a good player.

But he thinks his better attacking rather than defending.

It's the old cliche of "If you stand still you go backwards". Meyer, Guaita and Kouyate were all brought in to improve the first 11. In Guaita's case, Hennessey has stepped it up, so we have improved that way. You could also the Same for Schlupp. When you bring players in to improve the squad someone has to be dropped. it's harsh when that players form has improved, but sometimes player A at 100% is not as good as player B at 80%!

This is what RH has to manage. and what we can only speculate on.

Fact is, Hodgson is going to set us up 442 in the majority of games, and whilst Meyer has played LM, his primary position last season (and apparently his best performances) was deep lying CM, so similar to Cabaye.

In the long term I see Meyer and Luka starting at CM, however as people have mentioned there will be a lot of rotation. McArthur wasn't in our 1st choice 11 last season and still ended up playing in 33 games.

I would be surprised if our first choice 11 includes Schlupp but unless Andros goes left and McArthur goes right I don't see who else plays out there.

Kouyate will be an option, I don't personally see him being in our first 11.

But if the new boys don't fit in I am 100% sure Hodgson will not care about leaving them on the bench.
