Combine a stay in the Cotswolds with a heritage railway journey to Cheltenham racecourse Cheltenham is a good call as well, lovely town and the countryside is great. Both Cheltenham and York are only 2 hours from London by train done that journey many times.

We did Stratford upon Avon races for my something with a nought on the end birthday. It's not one of the biggest ccurses but it's pretty and very close to Stratford Upon Avon upon town centre

How about Fontwell Park. You have Arundel just down the road which has some nice pubs / hotels etc . Really nice part of the world and not a million miles away

Birthdays. Aren't really about the venue. It's about the company you invite and the quality of the drugs. One of my finest birthdays was in Ammmschterdaam, spent with ladies of various races. Is this what you meant by "An evening at The Races" ?

What about the Arc, early next month. Longchamps has just had a massive upgrade and is easy to get to from Paris - metro and course shuttle.
