Another month maybe but we're off to Spain for the last week in the month and I don't fancy a dry holiday

well considering the supermarket booze is cheaper than the mineral water in Spain, i cannot complain about your choice.

Try staying dry for 7 days if you can manage that try another 7 and keep going until the end of October.

I went dry October 2016 so I am celebrating my 2 year sobriety.

4 days dry. So far so good.

it doesnt help when the month starts with Palace v bournemouth on telly in the pub with a heartbreaking final score.


felt the pang for a beer last night. A large cold fizzy water usually does the trick.


what other tricks do you use when the urge for a pint is real ?

Seriously though; instead of not drinking at all (which strikes me as a bit pointless if - like the OP - it’s going to be followed by a “bender” in a couple of months) why not go for “quality” rather than “quantity” for a month. All things being equal and with a steady budget, you’ll end up spending the same, drinking less but savouring it more.

Just a thought.
