How can people keep having a go at Parish? His decisions have kept us in the premier league for six years now and rescued us from oblivion in some of the darkest days we have ever had. He always does everything in our best interests and is clearly a massive fan first and foremost, plus he is candid, honest and a man of real integrity. Where our club is compared to ten years ago is quite astounding. He deserves our full support and highest respect.

I have been a big supporter of Parish, as my comments on here will confirm, however there must come a time when his "credit" for saving the club etc expires.
Dont get me wrong I am not blaming him for this deal falling through (if it does) but I do believe he is probably out of his depth now it comes to pushing the club forward and IMO the whole structure of the club needs overhauling (was Dougie the best choice for DOF? we must need a better scouting network). My biggest criticism of SP is his use of social media, I think it is great for a chairman to interact with fans but you should not only do it when something good happens. It looks like he jumped the gun announcing Solanke doesn't it.

How can people keep blindly defending Parish?!

Ridiculous wage bill (which he's on!), jobs for the boys and terrible transfer processes every window.

Add a clear agenda just to make hay for himself whilst the sun shines before the enevitable relegation and it really is baffling.

Dominic Solanke ffs? 16 pages of Dominic. Solanke. Dire.

I know there is already a thread on it, but the Sunderland documentary on Netflix 'Sunderland till i die' gives an insight which goes on behind the scenes during transfer windows.

I've obviously no idea what's going on at Palace but it's not necessarily down to Steve Parish being tight. It could be many things like having to release a player first to free up wages, could be an ongoing niggling injury/fitness issue, could be the player weighing up other options. There's no obvious logical reason why they would delay the announcement which leads me to suspect he's not yet signed.

Re Solanke, I think he could be great for us. A young player with a good scoring record when given a chance. He'll be keen to prove he can play at Premier League level. He's a bit unlucky at Liverpool as he has to compete with Firmino, Sturridge and Origi for 1 centre forward spot.

No point in rushing to loan an injured player, who is out for an unspecified amount of time.

a very good point , i dont even know why we are looking to take an injured striker on loan , we already have one and wickham of course, i didnt know he was injured , and i am not parish bashing , i am merely saying when it comes to transfers he has lets just say history.

Happy to see Solanke arrive but we do really need somebody more in attack. When we capitulate to a top 6 side like Chelsea without the bravery to put something offensive against them then it is pretty clear we need to recruit more than an injured unproven youngster on loan.

You have to be so careful with online stories particularly in relation to the dateline. All that happens is different media outlets re-hash old stories for click bait so you get the same story being released for several days.

In reality there have been two stories released, one saying he is signing for Palace, the other saying he is signing for Schalke. The Palace story came out first and is more plausible if only because the Palace management have not denied interest in him.

I won’t hold my breath despite what Dazza says until there is confirmation of the deal however.

Sky understands that reports of Solanke having a medical with us are premature.

We should go for Jermaine Defoe.

He'd score a few with Wilf and Andros setting him up.

There is now a third story saying that we have rejected the deal due to concerns over his fitness

Yep, that would kinda square the circle and close a story that didn’t exist in the first place. Perfect journalism!

yep, i would rather we didnt sign anyone than an injured Liverpool player, lets face it if he was all he is made up to be Liverpool wouldn't be flogging him off to other clubs.Liverpool have got enough money out of us .leave things the way they are except gid rid of a few . bullet dodged imo .
