I believe we just don't have a long-term plan and we lurch from one window to another. Trouble is we can't keep a manager long enough to have one. If we could have hung onto Sam this may have been different, Sam has the experience on what is needed to progress a smaller club like us. All IMO

Sorloth and Ayew weren't signed as first teamers either .

Any source for that? Or just your opinion?

IMO I think that both were signed as first team players again on the cheap but were they Roy's choices or someone else?...... This also extends to Meyer and Guita.

When one is unable to lavish significant sums on transfers then of course this limits what one can spend.

With a DoF structure, I think it’s unlikely Roy would have final yay or nay. So I don’t think it’s right to pin the blame on any one person. But we do seem to have an issue with buying players that don’t fit into our system/philosophy.

Keeping a manager for more than 18 months would be a good start.

Our transfer policy is the same as the other bottom 12 clubs (probably excluding West Ham now they have a bigger budget with their 60k seater stadium) we buy to survive. Look at Fulham, they have spent 100+ million. Huddersfield, 60 million....Southampton blew all the VVD money and are 3 points worse off than us. United have spent 400+ million and are going backwards. Every club will look at their transfer policy and think they could do better. We have brought some good players over the past 5 years, but we have also brought players with little to no impact. That’s the problem when you go through so many managers. They all want their players and other players get disregarded.

I agree, we don’t have a long term plan and perhaps we need to persist with manager through thick and thin to try and get some stability. Big Sam has experience in keeping teams up, but has zero experience on pushing clubs on which I believe is our aim.

I think if Roy is our manager, he should have more of a say (if he has none already).

Sorloth was not cheap: £15m

My understanding is that the deal was £9 Mill rising to £16.5 Mill with all the add-ons.

We may never know, but I feel that the Sørloth purchase would have had some input from Roy. He has significant experience in Scandi football.

In any case, whoever signed that deal off needs a cold hard look in the mirror.

The deal is a matter of public record. Your understanding is correct (maybe give or take for foreign exchange) But crucially the add ons are solely contingent on us remaining in the prem.

So even if he continues to be complete shyte (which I expect will be the case), we still have to pay.

A terrible, ruinous deal.

Based on performances to date, agree. Like Brexit you need a plan and we simply haven't got one. WTF does Dougie do??
