I've been supporting Crystal Palace from Canada for a while now and have never been to England. I was wondering what a typical match day would be like for a Holmesdale Fanatic.

(Please no negative comments saying their just a bunch of drunken rapscallions that ruin everything. From watching the game against United on TV and seeing them singing for the full ninety minutes I've got a ton of respect for them.)

Unfortunately you've posted this in the wrong place as I don't believe any of them are active on this site. As you've seen, you've got the predictable 'spotty teenager responses' from the anti HF.

If you are genuinely interested,m I suggest you message them directly either through Twitter of Facebook.

I've emailed the conductor, who was glad to send me a schedule for his typical match day. He says:

9:00 - Mum wakes me up and makes me my favourite match day breakfast: half Frosties, half Coco Pops, all in the same bowl. Ace!

12:00 - Mum drops me off at the pub, giving me a big kiss in front of all my friends. Muuuum!!!

12:30 - It's time for a song-writing sesh! I've been working for weeks on a chant to the tune of the Ballamory theme song, but can't get anything to rhyme with 'Crystal Palace'... Maybe crystal challice? But I don't think that has anything to do with football... I'll keep thinking.

1:00 - I'm still drinking my shandy when Pete comes in - he's our drummer and he is very, very talented despite his shaky hands. 'Remember, Pete,' I tell him, using my best leadership voice. 'You've got to concentrate while you're drumming, and not get distracted by the numbers on the big screen.' I think he's listening but I'm not sure.

2:00 - We start to make our way to the ground. Here we're joined by Angry Andy, who has drawn a black skull on a catering napkin and put it over his face. Scary!

2:30 - It's time to sing! I hope Mr Smith is watching on telly - I told him he should have let me in the school choir!

5:00 - We've lost 1-0 at home to Huddersfield (well, that's what the steward told me on the way out, I was too busy conducting to watch any silly football!). Still, the important thing is that we managed to sing the same song 59 times in a row - that's a new record!

9:00 - Back home now. I've had fishfingers and chips for tea and I'm ready for an early night. What a day in the life of a Holmesdale Fanatic!

11:30 - Can't sleep. Got a new slogan to put on a banner. This one's a winner. Get ready... It's 'Premier Greed'. Sounds a bit like 'league', doesn't it? Killer.

Best. Post. Ever.

I can not name myself as a fanatic as i am also a newbie like you who was impressed about cozy atmosphere in TV only few years ago

Luckily i live few miles away from SP and started to smell the atmosphere by holding a season ticket this year with my 8 year old son.

Stadium is located in the middle of residential area. I have noticed 2 local pubs next to stadium usually fans go or the rest prefers fast-food takeaways and consume food at pavements. Away supporters freely hang around with no issues. There is a also a Fanzone which only ticket holders accepted and there are some games for kids, food stalls and entertainment.

I have a different routine as i come with a kid. Park the car away like 10 min walk, sneak into market to grab a beer (no pub with kid) and buy hot dog for the son which seems to be his main motivation to come to football game Unfortunately he is not into football like me, i was waking at night to watch WC when i was 8..

I am located at family section where there is a friendly atmosphere but there is a bit lack of passion which is no surprising.

They are a bunch of Croydon misfits up close. Bless ‘em!

They’re cocky en masse though … well unless, we play Millwall at home and then they get a police escort for their own safety?! First time ever in the history of football that home fans get a police escort to their own ground! #cringe

That said, I’d rather have them than not!

I for one bloody love the fanatics.

They get some stick on here but I remember going to games from the 70s and to hear their non-stop chants is certainly better than sitting in silence.

To answer the original poster, if you are ever over here for a game pop int the Holmesdale Pub beforehand where they often drink.

I'm not impartial at all, I actively dislike the HF which is based on the experiences I've described plus others and the recent seat grab.

I appreciate I have no way of substantiating these accusations on an internet forum, although I assume record of the incidents would exist in match day steward's reports which shouldn't be hard to find if you wanted.
In truth, I don't really care. If you go to the away games regularly, you'd have seen similar.

So, you 'actively' dislike the HF and yet you seek them out, hmm - I'll just leave that there.

But the reason I'm bothering to reply is your last line and particularly 'I don't really care'. You really should care about repeating falsehoods or making s*** up? Because, it makes you look not only pathetic but also someone who should simply be ignored.

PS. I don't know, but I know I've been to more away games than you. simply because I go to them all and have done for years
