We just seem content with a lot of sideways passing, playing the ball across the back, no-one has the ability to play a decent ball forward, or get the ball in midfield and drive forward.

Good points. That was surely the time to be adventurous after we had got back to parity and stick on Meyer etc. for the tired legs ?

And that’s exactly the point. Roy just doesn’t seem to understand when is the right time to make changes. Other managers would see things are not going well and do something about it but Roy doesn’t.

I thought today there was plenty of times when brighton were pushed right up and we still tried to play it across the back. Batshuyai was pointing forward but at no time did we lob the ball forward like they did for their first goal. Dont understand it myself we just kept playing the same throughout the whole match - which in its self is a reflection of our home form this season, if not the last few. COYP

Saw some lovely ball control, but no end product - a penalty is not a goal from open play. There seem, to me, to be three problems:- opponents come and park the bus - all the passing around the middle of the pitch needed to entice opponents away from their goal. Trouble is the passing game moves forward slowly, allowing opponents to get back behind the ball, we do not seem to be able to deal with rotational fouling, with the referee seeking to prevent retaliation - our players get a sniff of the ball and fall over to slow the game - by this the referee slows our game. Our players seem to be fair game for outrageous actions, like being flattened in tackles.

We need the middle to be controlled with the ball moving quickly from wing to wing and into an almost empty opposing penalty area, where one of our players is ready.

Meyer was stripped off and ready to come on and was just standing their for five minutes while Roy didn’t bring him on. In that period of time they scored and then Meyer comes on. Was so ridiculous. Not saying he would’ve stopped their goal but why have him ready and then wait five minutes.

Everybody at the game yesterday could see we had a lot of tired legs on the park. As soon as we got the equaliser and we were in control of the game which we were for about 15 mins, the subs should have been made. Roy makes reluctant and reactionary substitutions rather then preempting what is required to go on and win the game. You could see the Brighton players were crapping themselves when we equalised and they were totally on the back foot. That is when we needed to turn the screw.

There's a debate to be had about Meyer, but when fit Kouyate must play. It's a no brainer. Edited by Dangermouse (10 Mar 2019 10.16am)
