This post has been merged from a topic called 'Unbalanced squad' by Midlands Eagle It is an unbalanced squad but Roy loves a central defender and a central midfielder so I’m sure he’s rubbing his hands in this regard.

How are they going to have practice matches involving just first team players? Will Parish buy a load from f cr@p from Poland or somewhere like before to make the numbers up? Teams can be adapted to different circumstances, and so can players adapt to new positions.

I agree with all of it, apart from: ‘How grateful those in the boardroom must be to have super Roy at the helm. They are going to need all of his tactical nous, organisational skills and know how to navigate the way through what looks like being a tough opening half to the season, while £50m sits gaining interest in the club’s coffers.’ It doubt there will be anything sitting in a bank. Even if not all of it is used to pay off the director loans, I bet our cash flow isn’t the greatest and we’re always waiting for the next tv instalment, what with those Liverpool FC bills and our huge wage bill. And his maths isn’t great: ‘Having known Wilf since he was a young lad within the academy, I don’t believe that any of the sums mentioned truly reflect anything like his value to Palace – who would lose £100m in the event of relegation. Add in the reported sell-on percentage inserted in the deal when he returned from a brief stay in Manchester and I am closer to £150m.’

We're not going to be able to draw a remotely adequate replacement. Market value is only ever expressed by the popular media in the context of the plastic six.

It was a failure, we didn’t strengthen where we needed to. Dougie’s excuse was “we had the money from the AWB deal, but we would have paid over the odds for another right back and striker, because it was common knowledge of the money we had in the bank”. If that was the case why didn’t he source the buying or loaning of a right back before we sold AWB. I don’t trust the scheming Scottish t***, and if he has ideas about being the manager again I think I will go and watch Whyteleafe Football Club play on Saturdays...

Our squad will have to adapt and players will have to service 2 different positions or maybe 3? I think Cheke has played midfield, centre back and right back in the past for West Ham. It is incredible when you look at that Man City team and we beat them last season. They had 263 million pounds worth of players sitting on the bench alone for the opening game last weekend.
