Full disclosure: I used to support a different club when I knew nothing about football. They were flashy, the Premiere League loved them, they always finished well, and I was told by football fans that once you choose your club you're not allowed to change ever under any condition under penalty of...I don't know, what? God Almighty striking me down, presumably.

And yet...

Over the past few years I've come to believe the club in question only cares about turning a profit, and not at all about winning any more cups in any tournaments. They've become stale and boring, no matter what changes are made to the club. It's not that I care that they're not willing League titles or other championships, it's that they have the patina of a dynasty, but I like roller coasters.

I told my son that if Palace beats Man U and my former club loses that day, I would change allegiances and begin to follow Palace.

And here I am.

Hopefully I'm welcome, and my story doesn't trigger ire amongst those who believe "first choice is final choice" in life.
