Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I remember in the mid sixties going to watch the Graham Bond Organization who were playing at Ewell Technical College and being fascinated by the drummer.

One of my biggest regrets music wise is that I never got to see Cream live

Anyone see the documentary Beware of Mr. Baker? It’s on YouTube and well worth a watch. Even by his standards he was very grumpy for much of it.

Was that when Dick-Heckstall-Smith was on sax? That band was great with a lot of jazz influences (my own area). Apart from Jack Bruce later they all stemmed from the jazz sphere.

Such sad news.

I was a fan of 'Cream' when I was in my pomp and recall buying some of their albums including 'Disraeli Gears'.

Such wonderful songs - White room, I feel free, Sunshine of your love, SWLABR etc etc.Marvellous.

RIP.

Gary Moore is bit of a hero in these parts - so for your pleasure a little bit of Ginger Jack and Gary. [Link]

To be honest I can't remember him but as he left the band in 1967 I guess that he was in the band at the time as I probably saw them earlier than that

Jack Bruce certainly played at plenty of jazz festivals and early on played double bass in a jazz band.

Was that Graham Bond or Jon Heismann's Colosseum? Heckstall-Smith played with them, and Heismann was no mean drummer either!

I saw Gary Moore playing with Jon Heisman in Colosseum 11. He certainly was a fine drummer.
