Yeah that's what I'm wondering. If Meyer goes for free, and if he's on 120k a week, he's basically cost us £6.24m a season. Don't get me wrong, that's obscene and he's disappointed relative to our hopes, but we could easily have bought an equivalent player for £15m and 80k a week in wages. (ie about 9m a season).

This. Yes, this sums it up nicely.

Even more so, we could have bought a 7 million player with 60k a week who could have done more than Meyer (at least 2-3 goals are more than Meyer)

That 6.24m a year cost is amazingly high when you offer nothing. Multiply with 3 years and Meyer cost the club 20 million to play 250 minutes per season and never score or assist.

Exaggerating to make a negative. 7million and 60k a week does not get a better player that Max Mayer, who has scored goals for Palace and has played more than 250 minutes per season.

But back to the point. I feel pleasantly relieved that a working approach that matches largely what we have done over the last couple of years has been explained and would be sustainable and could result in an extended run in the Prem if we continue to execute it well: Guita, Cahill, Ayew, Meyer, McCarthy...

From a conversation I had yesterday, this was apparently discussed on Sky Sports.

With Roy continuing to perform miracles with a non existent transfer budget, aging squad and only creative wanting out, what happens when decides to call it a day ?

We have the ingredients to fall like clubs such as Sunderland and Stoke.

Unless we get bought out or start planning post Roy, we could be falling rapidly.

While I disagree with many doom and gloomers on here I do agree with this post. It is time after 3 windows of doing little to address the real issues for Parish/investors to find the money and identify the players and get the deals done.
We're bored of hearing about how the fans don't understand how hard it is to sign a player blah, blah.
Other clubs don't seem to have any trouble if a problem area needs addressing badly enough.
In short, I think Parish is taking the mick out of Roy. He knows he can keep us up on a shoestring so why goive him any money?
Would serve Parish right if Roy walked

Lol. Of course it does. There are numerous examples. Do you know Ryan Fraser's salary in the Premier League? 27k a week. Has like 40 assists in 3 seasons.

Given the points totals so far for the drop we need to buck up over the next few weeks and supplement our squad!

After 60+ years of following Palace I consider myself pretty philosophical, but as I sit here I'm starting to feel uneasy: Southampton winning, Villa have won, Watford winning and on a roll, Hammers about to get a new-manager bounce.

Well, I suppose we'll just have to win this evening.

It is a very close league this year. I personally think that 45 points would be a more realistic safety target for any club.

Anyway, we have to focus on our own results and let others worry about theirs.

COYP....

From the position we sit currently we'd have to go on an epic implosion of a poor run to get sucked in. I mean, this is Palace we're talking about so its conceivable although highly unlikely

Connor Wickham totally immense when he came on today, we would've been bashing that barn door all night and all day tomorrow without him, all he has to do is stay fit and we will have no striker problems whatsoever.

We very nearly threw this game away in the first few minutes didn't we, very poor unconfident defending just could not cope with Norwich's wide play, Sheffield.U are going to thrash us at home! Kelly again unsure and not in line for their goal poor distribution and on the other side Riedewald hesitant and unsure what to do with Norwich's quick movement but having said that they were excellent and should have beaten Spurs in their last home game, but Riedewald is actually brilliant shielding the ball at his feet and he looks very comfortable moving forward so I'm overall actually pleased with him to be honest our back up appears to be top notch so far, even less for me to worry about in regards to us being on a path to disaster.
