I think that there is a split these days with us fans. There is the Roy out bunch who will look for negative’s and faults at every opportunity then there are the Pro Roy group who are looking at the glass half full side of things.

I can’t see this war ending anytime soon.

You are probably correct in your observations. In my case I was commenting on what I got from the game. Having said that I do believe that there will be very few managers anywhere who will be able to get more out of our group of players than Roy. With different players it might be different but since we only have what we have I doubt we could do anything significantly better than we have at the moment. COYP

I was at Goodison, we actually played well for periods, when the score was 1-1, we looked the team most likely to win it then Richarlison scored, end of story. Not such a bad performance as you doom merchants make out. Must admit the substitutions were strange and did not help our cause.I think Riedawald and Townsend would have been better options.

I don’t think it’s the isolated performance/result Gerry, as with the SUFC game last week, its the overall (worsening) situation week in week out.

One win in the last twelve games, losing at home to Derby County in the Cup, a really poor performance at home to BHA, no shots on target and zero corners at home to Southampton, a pathetic and frustrating transfer window, another defeat at home to Sheffield Utd, zero attacking threat in any game of late, the oldest EPL starting eleven, dire football to watch, the non existent new main stand and slowly but surely slipping towards the relegation zone with little to suggest we are likely to arrest the slide.

As ardent supporters and followers of this club we want them to do well...but there isn’t exactly a lot to get excited about just now so I can forgive and fully understand people being somewhat downbeat about our current predicament.

It's very simple to me. Roy isn't getting everything right but then I read from his detractors that we'd be alright if he played Max Meyer as a number 10 and that it's Roy's fault Benteke cant score from three yards. The Cherry on the cake is that Riedewald and Meyer in midfield would turn us into an attacking force.

What a laugh.

Anytime I hear a fan say that Meyer should be starting or that we are a better player with Meyer on the pitch then I just have to laugh. . Meyer has been nothing short of awful for us and if he hadn’t of come with a big name and reputation then he would be ridiculed. He is a bang average football player who I would happily never see on a pitch for us again.

no i dont...if we lose, it pissed me off, but i dont go all knee-jerk in my reactions and hate on the world for 48 hours afterwards, weve lost enough in my 30 years supporting the club to expect it every other week over a season.

i just dont understand how people go from one extreme to a other in their views over a period of 2 hours.

Is there a reason something different is so scary?

This is all very philosophical, but yes I was there today and I thought we were well beaten and apart from the spell in the second half after we scored we played some awful football.
The squad just isn’t good enough. I am sure if we had better players we would do better. It’s as simple as that.

Sadly that’s how many of us are feeling - not sure how we get out of this as well?
