I am afraid we are being lied to cryrst my friend

Anyone with a PhD would have had to study the topic first. I have given this gentleman the chance to comment on microbiomes and diabetes. These would be key areas of study in a Masters relating to nutrition. At no point have we seen any sensible discussion, only peremptory dismissive comments.

I fear that Mr grumpy learned all he knows about nutrition from washing pots in a South East Asian hospital which he has now been forced to leave. His views are worrying as people seem currently to be looking to dismiss scientists and medics, which is the last thing we need.

Let us hope he has the good sense to follow the advice of doctors regarding his finger. Interesting that issue should arise now after his history of ‘giving the finger’ to the medical profession.

So now you want to switch to other diseases.

This was about covid-19 being the cause which I stated this is not true we dont have the data to show this and provide the evidence you posted up a load of links also quotes not one of them showed this.

We are not talking about nutrition this is about covid-19 again you keep switching to different subjects flopping about trying to move away from the main point which was you kept claiming cause which I stated and is backed up with science because there is none you are incorrect.

You have no idea what you are reading or how to even understand the data.

If you want to start getting into a discussion about science regarding nutrition create a new topic and we can do so over in that section I had said this to other posters in the past none of them took up the offer I wonder why that is.

I expect if we do go to another thread to discuss the likes of diabetes etc it will go the say way as this you flash up a bunch of papers, links with some quotes not understanding what you are even posting trying to claim something which has not been shown.

Hopefully you can surprise me unfortunately knowing 99% of nutrition science is garbage I don't expect so.

My son is type 1.
The question I asked was how did he get it.
The answer was no one knows its all about genetics.
Now type 2 can be diet and lifestyle affected.
How much though is again unknown, its like saying all smokers will get cancer through smoking. This isn't the case and a majority of people who get cancer in their lives live a very healthy lifestyle. As with type 1 and type 2 and how covid affects you its majorly down to genetics. Yes us fatties and smokers have a better chance of dying but lots without vices have and will die.
The science is primarily about trying not to catch it in the first place.

Your son may of always had it or something in his life happened which trigger an immune response.

We do not know their are many theories which do sound plausible not proven and I expect we wont find an answer in our life time it's not worth them putting the effort into it this wont generate money which is what science is really about now.

Cancer is the same we do not know the cause of it the same as we do not have a cure for it but we still see lots of claims from people they do even the big charities and other organizations.

We have seen a fair bit regarding covid and the groups it hits the worst the offset of just genetics is very small these same people would most likely not survive or end up with long term health issues even if having the vaccine as well.

The disease has over a 99% survival rate for healthy people not sure what you are trying to get at if you are obese you are not healthy this is a fact.

Catching it is the best thing you can do its not ebola.

Do you do the same for a cold or the flu I expect you do not why this if you are healthy.

Are you suggesting that the finger that was removed could have been the one that was specifically used on the keyboard for punctuation?

Very interesting theory - I’ll see if I have any scientific papers or stuff in my imaginary thesis that may discuss that as a potential outcome of finger or individual/multiple phalange removal.

He got diagnosed 4 years ago aged 18. If it was there before then he had no symptons. What you state about being unfit is common sense. In and of itself being unfit only gives you a worse chance.
Add stress or mental health issues to that and its the perfect storm of illness. Maybe covid hits this bracket of people more but how do you measure stress?
There is a lot at play with covid and a 99% survival rate is high until its 100 out of every 100,000. If 90 % of those 100 are in your bracket then why the other 10 ?
