Big fan of Dylan Mulvaney. And I love Bud lite. I had not heard of Dylan Mulvaney either. You can tell I am not part of the TikTok generation. I am impressed you are, although I suspect you might be taking the p*ss. Which given the Bud Lite connection would be entirely appropriate.

That's not as clever a way as you might think to try and cover up the promulgation of nonsense when it is exposed. That some regard it as nonsense provides all the justification needed, although I am disappointed if you see it that way. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (22 Mar 2024 5.53pm)

So if none of them actually meant their words literally, why do the authorities investigate some and not others.
The TV executive’s were certainly not a joke, nor, I suspect, have a double meaning. They could though very easily have been taken out of context and only a few of them quoted. Let’s see if anything more is revealed.

What a surprise Trans BBC present on Childrens TV leads protests. Regardless of whether he behaved illegally or as a bully the BBC don't care about impartiality because just like Lineker he is not a BBC employee, so under their joke guidelines that's alright then. Meanwhile it is reported that Labour have selected their new candidate to face Jeremy Corbyn in Islington. You will be shocked* to learn that he is a former BBC journalist *Actually I would be shocked if he stood for the Tory party. Edited by Badger11 (24 Mar 2024 7.43am)

If you don’t work for the BBC they cannot discipline you. If they disapprove of your conduct then all they can do is not use you any more as a freelancer. It strikes me as disingenuous that those who are often bleating about free speech being eroded then complain when someone exercises their right to make their opinions known, just because they don’t share those opinions. Paul Mason’s connections to the Labour Party have been no secret for many years. That he was also a BBC journalist, but isn’t now, is beside the point.

And yet we have them all the time, except that you don't often read BBC person joins Tory Party or BBC presenter makes outrageous pro Tory comments. Always seem to be the other way around.

We just don’t have them “all the time”! It’s undoubtedly true that collectively journalists tend to be more socially aware than others and that this tends to mean they are more likely to hold left of centre views than right. That’s just the nature of the profession, what it requires and what it brings. It doesn’t mean that professionals cannot be professional in their business life. My friend who worked for both the Express and the Mail was always a socialist in his personal life but a consummate professional in his business life.
