I wasn't aware of this.
ADO Den Haag were in a bit of a pickle when Pardew took over and their Chief Exec spoke highly of him :

The fact that they are ageing doesn’t make them bad players.
Tomkins, Dann and Cahill all reliable and consistent defenders as good as most outside the top 6.
PVA one of the best left backs in the Premier League in Hodgson’s own words.
Solid and experienced Premier midfield players in Mcarthur, Kouyate , Luka , Schlupp and Mccarthy.
Some say our best ever player in Zaha.
An experienced international attack in Townsend, Benteke and Ayew.
This should be more than capable of a mid table position.
This does not mean that the squad as a whole is getting older and clearly needs refreshing, but they are still good players who the likes of Villa, Sheff U, Norwich, Bournemouth and Brighton would love to have.
The question is whether Hodgson is getting the best out of them and this is where I am in disagreement with some on this thread..

He is also assistant to Gareth Southgate for England games. Think the Den Haag gig is probably a bit of a take what you can get scenario

Southgate similarly had England U-21's, but nobody, even us were showing any interest in him after Boro. Now though I think we would.

Southend is probably a bit of a poisoned chalice, probably because he made his name there when he left us along with Collymore but not an easy gig to be judged on

Think he could come in as an assistant next season with a view to taking over from Roy at some point.

Just throwing this out there, what about if Southgate is missing involvement in club football would they come as a pair? If of course we are looking for change. 1 more season for Roy, GS to join after Euros?

GS will surely only leave after Euros if we perform badly. If we do well he might want another crack at the World Cup. But I would be more than happy for him to come to us! at least he would be looking at how we can attack the opposition in their own penalty area!

People said the same about Southgate after Boro, Dyche got sacked by Watford - not many were willing to take a chance on him, although he spoke a lot sense in TV interviews.

If Southgate has him as assistant for England, and he was also assistant to for England manager McLaren at Derby, maybe it's just a case that he hasn't been given a chance to manage higher than the championship

Maybe you are using the same rule of thumb whereby we let him go after 3 appearances and he became an England international.

Dyche won more games than he lost at Watford and the new Italian owners replaced him with Zola.

On Powell's CV is the fact that he was sacked by Charlton, Huddersfield and Derby, accordingly it would seem that he is not attractive to PL Boards looking for a manager.
Would Powell even be suggested on HOL if he wasn't an Ex-player?

Agreed , Has shown nothing that would indicate he would be a good manager in the PL . If we are going to take a punt there are better options

Unless Roy walks or completely loses the dressing room I cannot see us appointing a new manager anytime soon. Premier league safety means he has had a successful season despite our frustration with a lot of our performances. Parish has struggled in the past with managerial appointments and will be wary of pulling the trigger unless absolutely necessary. Chris Powell would be a far too big a gamble.
