And the Labour Party had just been formed, no wonder they are smiling.

Indeed. Just a shame that the Labour Party decided to move away from those it originally served, seeing them now as the problem rather than the solution.

As an aside, can you imagine the monarch, Edward VII, having anything in common whatever in common with the Labour Party?

Well he did, turning up at one of Keir Hardy's rallies, declaring he wanted to be 'king of all the people'.

Considering his life, that was quite a turn-round!!

At least his women got a day off.

Not 100% sure I'd want to live in a tenement with my ten kids or work six days a week, twelve hours a day for a pittance, but I do understand the sentiment.

Perhaps there are certain things many would like to see again - me included. And other things not so.

I really don't like 'everything was better in the past' narratives, or 'all was bad in the past' narratives. There are things that could always be better and there are things that could always be worse: for everyone, rich or poor; I won't put black or white - oops just did.

The unions were required but if these people had known what the left would help turn their societies into I don't think Labour would have survived.

I can remember showing my South East London born and raised nephew this video....

He simply could not comprehend that was London.

If somebody ever offered me a chance to go back in history for a year I think it would be to 1913. To experience a Europe probably at the height of its civilisation. Of course there were problems and life expectancy was less than now but there was something about the era that got lost for ever once WW1 broke out and pure mayhem ensued. I know most people focus on WW2 but the changes bought about between 1913 and 1919 are almost beyond logical comprehension.

It's wonderful to see the English in their capital city without their burdens and enemies.

Thank you.

I live in Greater London, formed in 1965.

So I know all about greatness and being greater is so much better than being tedious great.
