I thought they just sacked a few people. Perhaps I was wrong.

does it count as 'gross misconduct' when the management need to express a legal disclaimer onto the end of the episode ? in double quicktime ?

i hope they keep Evra, i will be watching the clown every week.

Lets see what Evra says when the camera pans past the wheelchair section of the stadium ? A Prince Philip for our times.

Evra is a knob and plenty of much better pundits who don't try and be smug smart asses. If Sky bin him no tears

I don’t see how it’s a political correctness issue. Everything these days seems to be drawn back to political ideologies.

For me it’s a fair comment around Wilf’s time at Man U. We all know the rumours and it was good that Sky reiterated Wilf’s rebuttal. If anything, the average fan should come out more clued up than they were previously.

Agreed mate.

Wasn’t racial or political, just stupidity.

We all heard those rumours, they may have been true, who knows. One things certain, United will be kicking themselves for letting Wilf go.

For shame, some of the replies on here...plenty of stupid pundits chaps, and they say dumb stuff - in this case a libel.

Anyone saying the reason he's not been sacked is because he ticks boxes (i.e. he's black) should give yourself a head wobble. Pathetic.

Why not focus on the shocker that none of the pundits included no one from Palace?

And Le Tissier was the best of a fairly average bunch. We've all said for years how rubbish their team is on Sky.

Ian Holloway always has an amusing quip.

has Evra been dropped from the Punditry merry-go-round ?

You may hate Roy Keane, but i have yet to see his commentary being followed immediately by a written statement from the Studio's Legal Team. And a red-faced presenter.

Bit of an overreaction, no? It’s live TV, people will make mistakes. If everyone was so afraid of making a mistake then the analysis would be incredibly full.

This is what he said: Speaking on Sky Sports on Saturday night, the Frenchman said: 'I remember what ruined his career for Manchester United is when he had this true or untrue affair with David Moyes' daughter.

Not anywhere close to a sackable offence or lawsuit in my view.

I agree. Not clever but really not a big deal. Did anyone hear Carlton Cole make his holocaust comment on 5Live? He had to do a grovelling apology that same afternoon. And yet surprisingly I saw he was back in later shows. Charlie Adam was done for drink driving, yet also retained his employment as a pundit. His actions could have killed someone.

Can someone explain to me why what he (Evra) said is a mistake?

1. It would appear to be true that whatever did or didn't happen between Wilf and Moyes' daughter, it (at least the rumour) did in fact ruin his career at Man Utd.

2. Evra clearly says it (the affair) may or not have been true. He did not present the rumour as a statement of fact.

Surely you employ experienced footballers as pundits because they know more than you and I do? So Evra says something that is informed (he was there), the precise reason he is a pundit, and we consider that "making a mistake"? Am I missing something?

You're welcome to your opinion of Evra (I don't have one) but to criticise him for doing the job he's employed to do in a competent manner seems a bit rich to me.

Spot on. He didn’t accuse him of anything, the papers did though.

I’m inclined to believe it in this case too, for one reason - How he was treated by Moyes and Man Utd. Wilf was in great form prior to the move and had Arsenal, Spurs etc drooling every him every six months. He was Fergie’s leaving present to the club, and Moyes never so much as gave him a run out in the league, left him to rot and then palmed him off on loan to Cardiff. He took a knock from that period as any player would, but I don’t see why he wouldn’t have put in at least as good a performance as Januzaj if he was played by Moyes.

So what was the reason? If not that, something fishy was going on.
