Yes he needs to stay where he is now, plays far far better in this position ..almost too well.

No, the ref has to follow the rules put in place by those above and that is what he did. Roy alluded to it in his interview - ‘even the ref knew it wasn’t a penalty’.

The first incident was actually exactly the same as it hit his arm below the shirt when deliberately keeping his arm out of the way, but technically if the second one was a foul then that first one was too surely, the the rules say if the ball hits the arm and it did very clearly, but the ref decided it wasn't a foul, so what on earth made him decide the second was when quite clearly his arm was just where an arm should be when having an arm there, what did the ref want Mr Ward to do with his arm to deem it not a foul I wonder, mr Friend had the decision because he decided the first, so he was at fault for the second for giving it, nothing to do with VAR.

You can throw all the stats that you like at this, but we were undone by a very dodgy penalty decision. Whatever happened to the rule, ball to hand, rather than hand to ball? Wardy’s hand was down by his side.

You could see in his face that he was really distraught by that decision, gotta hand it to Wardy, he has been great in the first 3 games of this season...

Everton got lucky and didn’t deserve that win....

AppleSource will ferment you lol

On talksport I heard someone mention his hand wasn't in a natural position, I screamed.

Apparently that is what Antony Taylor advised Friend, what is a natural position for a defender then?

If Roy can work his magic and weave Scluppie Eze Zaha Ayew and Townsend into the same team on the pitch we could be onto something big.

Hopefully yesterday should close any chance of Zaha leaving. I really hope he stays this season.

Watching yesterday made me realise how ridiculous this empty stadium issue is. I don’t enjoy watching on telly. Yet there is NO sign of fans coming back, none at all. I don’t want 2000 I mean full stadiums.

If fans were back these new VAR rules which are ruining the game would be causing riots in the stadiums. Can you imagine last week at United that penalty incident. Even though I believe it was all correct, there would have been a riot at Old Trafford over that. The game had restarted then it was called back for a re take. Although good for us, what a joke. Then yesterday’s decision that was so clearly NOT a penalty. Imagine the Palace faithful. It would have kicked off.

I personally think that Calvert Lewins “handball” was more of a pen as he at least had the opportunity to get his hand out of the way. He did not do that and in fact used his arm close to his body to control where the ball went. I suppose we got one last week and it went against us this week. Shame as this week cost us a point whereas last week made no difference.

On paper your right. But holding on to a win against man u is a lot easier with a 1 goal cushion. Ask Brighton !!

A question. To me, when Ward did his handball, the centre forward looked offside. (I've not double checked).

If that was the case, what are the rules? I mean, clearly, if Ward was cheating (he wasn't) then it was to stop the ball reaching an offside player.

The Law Makers are ruining the game with these ridiculous offside and handball interpretations. Why I even almost felt sorry for Brighton yesterday.

As with the poor refereeing decision pre VAR, it looks like it will even itself out over a season. But that doesn't make it right.

To the game, we were beaten by a better team on the day. Everton look strong all over the pitch. I think they will finish in the top 6 this season. The manner of the defeat was of course disappointing though.

I felt sorry for Wardy on his 250th appearance. He deserves better than that.

If the ball had hit any other part of Joel Ward then he would have played the striker on-side. So the handball trumps the offside.
