To those who argue Hodgson is getting the maximum of the players at his disposal, would a Brendan Rodgers employ similar tactics with those same players?
I doubt he would be lining up 442 with Eze and PVA in wide positions in midfield.
He would not be lining up with two central midfield players in the majority of games allowing us to be continually overrun.
He would be more likely to involve Eze in a Maddison type inside forward role where he could cause maximum disruption to the opposition. He’s unlikely to ask Eze to turn into Townsend.
I doubt Rodgers would persist with one paced Luka at the base of his midfield when he has the more mobile Mcarthy, Mcarthur or Kouyate as options.
Some of our better performances have coincided with Luka’s absence.
I also doubt Rodgers would leave our strikers , whomever they may be, as isolated and starved of service as Hodgson.

Rodgers would have Benteke in the side, a player he bought for Liverpool !

Parish cannot let Roy wait until July before he makes his decision, it has to be made now, and if its a no he should go with immediate effect, how can players decide on signing a new contract without knowing, we are not going to get relegated this season, so we can replace Roy, and start building for next season

I would expect that there is common knowledge amongst the workforce that Hodgson is going (or staying) and players can set their expectations/future plans accordingly. Just because we as fan don't know for sure, doesn't mean that staff don't, as is the case with many business' when a senior person is nearing retirement. Internal comms usually precedes external comms.

What's sad is that currently the enjoyment level of supporting Crystal Palace has hit rock bottom. I dread watching them on TV and it's become a little embarrassing.
As fans, I think we are a thick skinned bunch. We rarely boo and we take an awful lot of s***e football. But it seems like it's gone on too long now and everyone is at the end of their tether.
I don't hate Roy and I think he's done an admirable job but it's the end of this cycle.
Fresh ideas are needed and a new direction. It's clear as day to not only us as fans but also now fans of other clubs and pundits too.

....and importantly would provide service to Benteke...and if he didn’t deliver the goods he’d leave him out.
Unlike Hodgson, who continues to choose woefully out of form players - presumably because they fit the ‘shape.’
Rodgers is proactive during a game as it ebbs and flows and is not averse to trying different formations to win the game.
How often does Hodgson attempt this ?
I watched the interview with him from last night and he had accepted defeat at 2-0 even though nearly a full half remained.

I really do hope that Steve Parish is planning for the future.

To continue as we are, sinking into ever deeper mediocrity is to guarantee disaster next season.

It is useless waiting for Mr Hodgson to decide his own future. It will be too late to replace him if he stays on until July.

My big worry is that Mr Parish doesn't have it in him to wield the axe and we will jog along with 'make do and mend' - sleepwalking into oblivion.

A massive clear out of players and staff is needed.

Will cometh the hour produce the man ?

Last night was two elderly statesmen of the game on show, both stuck in their ways. The difference being one sticks steadfastly to playing football while the other's philosophy is to prevent that.

Chris Sutton on the radio couldn't believe the teams last night were on the same points one chasing down every ball the other sitting back he said he knew as a neutral which side he would sooner watch every week surely the buck stops at the manager if the team is not motivated

More to the point, will it produce the money otherwise your so-called 'man' will be up the proverbial without a paddle.

Some will opine that it is not a question of motivation or the manager but the fact that the squad has got old together, they just do not have the verve, energy and pace to play a more expansive game.

Some will opine that the manager's tactics are at fault, that he sets out his team in a manner which doesn't entertain supporters.

Some will opine it is a combination of the two.

I’ve always been in the ‘Roy in’ camp, acknowledging his experience and willingness to work with what we’ve got without making too many high demands whilst simultaneously trying to steady the ship and ensure Premier League survival.

Let’s not forget what the previous 4 seasons involved- 6 managers in quick succession and narrowly avoiding relegation!

In my opinion, Roy has fully met his job spec in that he has steadied the ship and firmly established us. We are however, now ready to move into a new chapter and I’m not longer of the opinion that Roy is the man to ensure we progress.

I’m unsure as to who is the best fit is but I’d be happy for a more adventurous manager to come in that can coach the team and release the shackles. Lampard/Morris combination is appealing, and Gerrard’s efforts in Scotland have caught the eye. Roberto Martinez’s combination of experience, ability to coach and attractive football stands out the most for me.

My advice, for what it is worth, is to never give the merest impression of being "In the know" on HOL as it only attracts negative comments.

Oh yeah - it was with tongue firmly in cheek that I wrote that !

With the greatest of respect I believe that the likes Gerrard and Martinez would not even consider joining us.
