Has anyone had one of these installed, or indeed taken it on as a DIY project?

Thinking this might be our best option as it looks like working from home the majority of days will be the new normal (if you're an office worker like me). Currently me and the Mrs both have a makeshift workspace on the dining room table and in our bedroom but these are far from ideal, with a relatively small house and 2 children (never mind the neck pain).

With no spare room to create an office, and an extension too big a project (practically and financially), I'm thinking a little space down the end of the garden would be ideal, and help separate work from home a little.

Any recommendations?

I looked into it but a decent one with electricity and good insulation was upwards of £18k for a decent sized one. There is a place in Purley called Garden2Office that I was recommended although I never got as far as an actual quote.

If you can do the foundations yourself as well as putting it together, you should save a few thousand.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I built a bar in my old garden. Did it out of timber, but to the spec of an extension with insulation etc and a pitched roof.
Think the regs were that an out building can be 4m high if within 2 meters of the boundary or 2.4m ridge height if it’s within 1 meter of boundary.
I’m sure the max sqm allowed before planning was 40sqm , so I did 39.5sqm.
Enjoyed building it, but it never got used enough, as I like to get away from my house if I’m having a night out.
If you insulate it right it will be warm in the winter, with a blow heater and cool in the summer. If you don’t go heavy on insulation I wouldn’t bother.

Clean out the shed but make sure your missus doesn't find the DVD's and mags on the bottom of that old cabinet.

You will also need broadband / WiFi.

was hoping I could get the build all done for around £10k but think I might be dreaming. I've got power down the end of my garden so could run the electrics to the room from there, and could probably run a LAN cable from the house myself to get the internet. Or add another wifi extender which should talk to the one in the kitchen to extend the mesh network. It's occupying enough of my thoughts to probably become a reality. Just need to scrape together the funds!

How about this for a cheaper option (only good if you have access to your garden for siting it though)

This is the 15' version(thinking both of you using it), but they do a cheaper 10' one too.

tbf with what you save on the build you could turn it into an absolute palace on the inside!

Those are described as detached three bedroom bungalows in most of Wales and much of 'up norf'.
