We have loads of options at CB but how do they rank in order of ability and importance? Here’s my top 7...
1. Sakho
2. Tomkins
3. Kouyate
4. Dann
5. Cahill
6. Kelly
7. Woods

As far as wind ups go, it’s not very subtle is it.

I think you need to separate ability and importance.
If the rankings are on pure ability, you're probably not far off. But in terms of importance, it'd look a bit different. Cahill and Dann's experience and leadership, for example, is invaluable. So while Sakho might be a bettter football player (and I believe he is)...is he that much better to warrant leaving those experienced guys out? Not sure. For me, having one of each makes sense. So I think when everyone's fit, a Sakho-Tomkins or Sakho-Cahill partnership works bestt.

I dont think theres any doubting from a pure class point of view Sakho was unreal when he first came to us... Unfortunately he has that mental streak in him and can, at any given moment just do something completely mental..

However now hes been here a while I genuinely think the guy has no commitment. Hes just picking up a large pay cheque and I doubt if half his injuries he picks up are even genuine... That's just my opinion.. The sooner hes off the wage bill the better cos I just dont think the guy wants to be here.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Thanks for a sensible response. Why on earth would my choices be a wind-up? The downer people have on Sakho is weird and wrong. He reads situations brilliantly, is immensely strong and his passing is crucial in launching attacks. Yes, he has an error in him but they all do and his get scrutinised far more than other defenders (eg. Ward v Brighton).
He and Tomkins were our first choice for a long time and I still think they are our best two, although we are lucky to have such strength in that position.
I respect what Cahill has achieved in his career but I think many Palace fans have an inflated view of how good he is. For me he looks to knock it back to Guiata too often rather than be a bit braver in his passing options.

Continued wind up. Or just attention seeking. Also not biting.

Can't agree with this at all personally. Mine woudl be:

1. Cahill
2. Tomkins
3. Dann
4. Kouyate
5. Sakho
6. Kelly
7. Woods

Cahill whilst slow is absolutely immense in terms of positioning and leadership. Him and Tomkins (when fit) are my top 2.

Kouyate has been amazing stepping in, but prefer him at DM when he can get forward more. Dann pips third place for me as he's stepped up when needed having been out of the team for an age and has been superb.

Sakho on his day could be #1, but too many flicks, attemped Cruyff turns, stumbling or just plain falling over for no reason means he can't be higher up the list for me. There's a howler every game and it often costs a goal. Give me slow and dependable any day!

All that said, any of those top 6 are decent and premier league quality, so no complaints from me!

The order is subjective, I get that.

The only nailed on position is Cahill at number one. After that they can fight among themselves.

60 plus England caps, champion league winner etc. None of the others ever got close to this. How he would be anyone’s number five shows you are either a wind up merchant, know f@ck all about football or both.
