He was supposed to be doing well abroad but he's now back here without a club so not that well I guess.

I once spoke to someone within the club, I think about 4 years ago in the Glaziers lounge, and John Bostock came up in conversation (I recalled being there for his debut).

The take away I remember from their perspective was he certainly had the ability to play at a professional level, but the fact he was 6 foot tall by the time he was about 10 and therefore able to consistently play above his age group gave false belief to some that he was the next Ballon D'or winner.

I think they/he jumped the gun far too early in his career for anyone to truly know what he was capable of.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Ouch that Sonny Pike story is horrible.
Bostock was done over by Spurs and whereas at Palace he was playing first team football at Spurs he disappeared and all the promises made to him dissipated. We shouldn't hate him it was more down to advisers and father.

I often wondered what happened to Sonny Pike - I remember all the hype around him when he was barely a teenager. It just goes to show that if you don't have the right people around you things can go horribly wrong. You' like to think that the "right" people would include parents but obviously that's not necessarily the case.

Hopefully this will serve as a lesson to other youngsters at the Palace academy. Apparently a 16 yr old called Zion Atta is attracting attention from man city, liverpool, europe etc.

He was entitled to be advised well at that age and he wasn't.
I would still have him back today - he cannot possibly have lost all of that talent.

I remember he was here at Toronto FC in MLS for a season I think it was. He was a beautiful ball handler and you could see the innate talent he had but it went nowhere. He was one player I always felt sorry for. So much talent wasted. I don't know why but sometimes it just happens.

He say his biggest regret is leaving Palace, quite right.

I think his word about the online comments by Palace supporters is a reminder to all of us that unpleasant, rude and offensive comments posted on sites such as this are just destructive and show the club in a bad light.

Well sadly we are not all fluffy little rabbits that go through life not being upset, offended or angry by anything. Within reason people have every right to say exactly what they think of him.
I'd never condone threats against anyone but I'm not going to say his promising to sign on with Palace numerous times then walking out for Spuds made me happy! And I'm going to say so too!

Harry Rednapp said of him when manager of Spurs there is nothing wrong with his fitness or his ability. Its attitude thats the problem. This is why numerous smaller clubs cut short loan spells and sent him back to Spurs

I completely agree that we all hated the way Bostock's team behaved and we were/are all absolutely right to say so. Just the language and style of some just makes us and our club look crap.

Kids of that age are absolute morons. They think they know everything but actually know nothing.

A super gifted footballer must be about as detached from reality as they come.

I don't blame his family either. You think your kid is Messi II...I mean they are brilliant and every top club in the world wants them. You want to believe it so badly. The club you support is 100% irrelevant at that moment.

The only hope was wisdom, but it didn't prevail. s*** happens.

If you read the interview, it's clear that he didn't have much of a say in the matter, and that it was what his family thought was best for him - he signed where he was told to. I believe that over him being a moron and making the decision himself.

That said, he bore the brunt of the flack, from myself included, at the time. Feel more sorry for him now than any negativity towards him.

People forget that Bostock made some very derogatory remarks about the Academy/reserves at the time and also sneered at the fans.

He was a cocky t*** & once himself and his team started listening to offers from elsewhere it was inevitable everything ended the way it did.

Im sure he will end up at Palace again anyway when Freedman becomes boss..

He has played for 13 clubs in 13 years. Coming soon to a non-league club near you!
