Probably the sensible solution. It would certainly remove any ambiguity over exactly why they are doing it (and anyone continuing to boo would literally have no excuse).

I would be better to stop virtue signalling at every game and do something practical if they are that bothered.

Lets all make an assumption that a % of people who take the knee in this manner are doing so with zero knowledge about what BLM actually stands for but instead are doing it as a kindly gesture of solidarity over issues of racism in general.

But perhaps this now causes real confusion and therefore it might be for the best if a new gesture is agreed upon which clears up any notion that this is political?

Good idea.

My vote is for both teams to gather in a line with arms around shoulders like many a one minute silence, but then to burst into a can-can routine in honour of Kick It Out.

Could even sing along to the tune with the words "Kick kick kick it kick it
Kick kick kick it kick it
Kick kick kick it kick it
Kick it kick it Out"

Far more uplifting.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Seems to me this taking the knee initiative has sparked more discussion about racism in football than the Kick it Out campaign has in decades.

I can understand the spirit of it, but I'm not sure that it makes much sense to still be going on now. I propose that we instead shift the cause, maybe to covid related efforts, and do the 'covid knee' before a game. And why must it be the knee we take; we could just take the piss instead for instance.

It's certainly generated discussion but I think you are unfair on kick it out.

- When was the last time you heard racist chanting at a football match in England? You get the occasional idiot both clubs condemn it the police investigate and they are nearly always caught, banned by the club and face criminal sanctions.

- Teams are integrated around 30% are non white they are well paid and respected by fans. Yesterday our 5 goals were made and scored by black players I've not heard anyone complaining about that it simply doesn't happen at football now.

- The sports media treat racism seriously unlike the rest of the world.

Apart from the lack of black managers which is another whole topic* there are no barriers in football apart from talent, in fact football can be proud of itself.

A lot of this can be down to Kick it out educating the public especially the younger generations.

If players still feel there is a problem they should speak out with specifics and be prepared to engage and defend their position not try and shut down the debate.

*I don't believe racism is the reason why there are not many black managers.

I agree with that for sure - as I have said - I have been educated - or learnt about bias that I wouldn't have given a second thought to in the past.
But it seems that it is now a divisive gesture and so something different whilst still getting a message across might be better.

Why not have a different stance for various causes?

Clasped hands for the NHS?
Outstretched arms to highlight and promote anti-teenagers constantly killing eachother?
A hand over the face to highlight and promote anti-gang culture?
A wagging finger to highlight and promote anti-drug problems?
Cupping their goolies to highlight and be anti-young men growing up with absent non-interested fathers?

And why not do it several times throughout the match, why just at kick off? Let's see footballers constantly making social and political gestures instead of playing football!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

You are a typical case of indoctrination. Your narcissism drives your belief that what you believe has to be right and more, that all others must be prevented from being wrong.

I don’t think it takes much indoctrination to realise that racism is bad.

Bit of a coincidence Adrian Durham was at 13th placed Millwall vs 23rd Derby on Saturday, on the first day fans are allowed back in with kneeling before matches?
