Good article from M&S boss about the paperwork nonsense.

I hadn't realised that we were giving the EU a free ride on import controls well, that ends in October, so either they start to negotiate sensibly about red tape or they and especially Eire will start to experience problems.

Rubber glue back at you.

Many suppliers in the building industry were told as from December 31st this year, they were no longer allowed to supply CE marked (European Standard) products into the British market, and that all products had to conform to a new UK standard (UKCA). This meant that many European manufacturers needed to get each of their products re-tested at great time and expense in order to sell into Britain. Many UK manufacturers had got in first with the British testing houses, and caused a backlog for the rest of the world.

The EU has now agreed to let the UK carry on for another year using the CE standard (while they have a think I reckon), as they have realised that getting sh!tty about everything only comes back and bites them up the ar5e.

They might be a bit peeved that we don't want to be in their club anymore, but I think its dawning on them that they need us as much as we need them.

All the paperwork that UK companies complain about to export to the EU also applies in reverse however up to now we have not implemented it on our side so the EU has had an easy ride.

I believe that from October we will start doing so hopefully common sense will prevail and a more sensible approach will be taken by both sides.

Reed bed sewage systems are the way to go. Loads of EU countries pump untreated waste into the water. They just don't tend to publicise it. Ireland for sure.

Southern water cut out the middle man and just pump it in to the sea off kent, the bathers around Margate dont appreciate it but it makes financial sense for southern water so whats not to like?

Could do it for pretty much any country in the EU, although I was in Denmark recently which had much better water quality than what I'm used to.

It's a decent criticism but it's really not particularly Brexit or EU related. That stuff goes on everywhere, unfortunately. Nearly always issues with capacity and infrastructure. And the billions that would cost to upgrade. No water charges in Ireland - that's one thing. Water quite a lot in the UK in some places is it?

Obviously, as an avid reader and subscriber, I'd seen that article.

"Food shortages could be permanent, warns industry body. Lorry driver shortages have also have been blamed on EU workers leaving the UK following Brexit as well as during the pandemic and tax changes making it more expensive for drivers from elsewhere in Europe to work or be employed in the UK."

Nothing to do with brexit of course.
