1 million vacancies the BBC trumpeted (we need more workers from abroad) I had to dig but eventually found that there are nearly 5 million unemployed.

Time the government did it's job and started to encourage these people back into work.

Exactly. There are over 200,000 unemployed in Ireland and yet the exact same problem. This really is time to get on your bike and get a job. Any able-bodied person who isn't caring for someone has no excuse and a limit needs to be put in place now
I'm thinking job within 6 months or 25% cut in benefit. Job within a year or 50% cut. I'm also thinking 100 quid bonus to all new employees in the next month. Something like that.
Government in Ireland is increasing welfare. Taking the p1ss.

I used to put the manager's name in front of Red and Blue but got fed up with changing it. If someone cool becomes our manager then maybe..

Red and Blue Army!

200,000 unemployed all living within an easily commutable distance from 200,000 job vacancies that conveniently fit their particular skill sets and requirements. Assume you think all 200k of those unemployed are bums taking liberties on welfare, no qualies, and should be thankful for anything that comes their way, nay, forced to work for the inconvenience.

Staggering oversimplification. Beyond parody

Same point for the 5 million. The base simplicity of the concept makes sense, but as a practical, worked though, implementable solution it’s complete waffledross

I thought it was 4.7% - so 5 million looks too high.

Those bloody foreigners, coming over here, doing crucial jobs for the country, and then not having the good nature to f*ck off again.

When foreign farm workers enter the UK, they sign a contract until the end of the ‘picking” season, they also agree to leave at the end of that time. On arrival ther are given leave to enter until the end of their contract ( normally Oct/Nov). If they do not leave they are here illegally and therefore have broken the law. If you are content with people breaking the law, whatever nationality, so be it

My bad I mistook the percentage figure for the actual. I just did a trawl and can't find the actual number I did find that 2m are still on furlough although this will no doubt fall when the next set of numbers are realised which now seem to be quarterly rather than monthly.

Anyway the point is still valid lots of people not working who could be.

Have you geniunely never seen able bodied people on the dole who could easily walk into the jobs in their locality? I think that would be beyond parody. I'm not asking for forced labour. The minimum wage in Ireland is a tenner. And so many places offering a lot more.
All you've done is shot me down, and offered absolutely nothing. You should perhaps be Minister for Employment, or at leary shadow one. Let's just carry on paying people for nothing forever. That's bound to work out well. The poor dears.

The Spanish paper picked up on the no chicken at the KFC, fuel shortages, inflation up, no food in the shops, you couldn"t make it up! Still, in no way, I repeat, NO WAY, anything to do with the current government, they have only been in for 12 years and it takes time to organise things! When they settle in to the job, bed down, things should hopefully get a tad better, even food in the shops that you actually want to buy maybe, if you are lucky!

Yes but all these European countries don't speak English, so they can't know what they're talking about. They're never worth listening to with their weird cultures, food and ideas. Only English speaking countries are worth listening to such as the US and Australia.
