Agree with this. Gordon Banks would struggle with that bunch of Doris’s in front of him.
Guaita is a top keeper but his confidence is probably low given the performances all around him, the total refusal to change tactics and the same old substitution policy - that seeks to accept a defeat and tries to unsuccessfully ensure we don’t concede more.
I mean, is it his fault that our defenders scuff clearances, we are unable to retain possession, clear the box and constantly give the ball away? That we play a CM as a CB. In one game we did 2 foul throws. 2! In my opinion 1 is unforgivable in the professional game.

Funny how even with the same defenders it was always Henesseys fault and before that a few others.

Looking at the number of goals we have been shipping recently I would say he was a decent shot stopper but poor on crosses and set pieces.

According to FYP twitter he's signed a new contract. Good news IMO.

Lots of comments about him being a liner but so was Nigel Martyn IMO and the way modern balls are whipped into the box makes it a lot harder than the floaty efforts of a few years ago.

Maybe he’s homesick, maybe it’s his normal persona, but he always seems so miserable, never see any other expression, just very dour.
Having said that I like him and think he’s a good keeper and would like him to stay..

Guaita has been outstanding this season. Keepers love to have a settle back 4 in front of them, which is something we have not had for a long time. This makes his performances even more outstanding. The save today from the header was brilliant, I thought that was goal bound. If he has signed a new contract, that is great news for us.

He's been a brilliant signing. Most of us had never heard of him and fair play to the club getting him on a free transfer.

Am I right in thinking that we have a 1 year extension option on Guaita's contract?

I think that was what Hodgson was implying earlier today after the wolves game

Would you be happy with WH starting instead then?
But the answer might be that people can just see VG is simply a better Keeper. In my opinion, a lot better.

If he does go hardly surprising as he has a track record. We got him from Getfe under similar circumstances. He ran this contract down, we got him on a free and I would imagine he got a juicy signing on fee. At his age and a chance of a reasonable move home you can't blame him.
Shame but if he does leave good luck to him as he has done well for us.

I am very impressed with his reflexes - perhaps even sharper than those of Jules? What is the reflex? Is it a combination of speed of eye, brain and muscle movement. Can reflexes be trained? Do they improve/deteriorate with age?

Reflexes can be trained and do deteriorate with age.
There are fast twitch fibres that react quickly, have a shorter time before tiring, but deteriorate with age (sprinters are all younger).

There are medium twitch that can be trained to become fast or slow twitch.

There are slow twitch which are slower to react but last longer ( think 10k runners who move to marathon with age).

I don't see him going in this window we would be mad to let him go.

In the summer I don't blame him or any of our players. I wonder how many of them are enjoying the football at the moment.

If he wants to go back to Spain that is understandable and maybe his wife and family are also pulling him in that direction.

That said I would like him to stay he has been a great signing.
