next season in the Carabao cup. Providing he continues to progress well in training. Good advert Roy, I am sure other players will be queueing up to join us in the summer.

Agreed! He has been with us for two matches, both of which we won! If Roy had started him or brought him on and we hadn't won the game, then Roy would have got pelters.

Hodgson said that because of the quick turn around in recent matches there has been no opportunity in training to do more than what he calls small sessions (on half a pitch). He wants to see Mateta "stretch his legs" on a full size pitch training session and I suspect that will happen later this week with our next game not being till Monday evening. I'm hoping and expecting that we'll get to see Mateta playing on Monday even if it's only a cameo off the bench. We need to remember that the club have invested a lot of time in monitoring this player and want him to be a success. We fans just need to be patient. It was a few games before Eze got to play regularly.

He will get a start now against Leeds, the way it is shaping up he might be playing in about 3 different positions as our injury list is spiralling....

Best game of the year so far and its a shame there's so many posters looking to throw s*** around. It's unfortunate circumstances. Batshuayi scored against West Ham and earnt his start on Saturday. No overly convinced he deserved another chance today, but won't quibble. Benteke was the right player to bring on in the scenario. His workmate seemed higher either because I'd spent 70 minutes watching bats or because he only had 20 minutes to lug his 6'4 frame around. He did the job we needed someone to do. We've never seen Mateta, yet people are complaining. Would probably start Benteke against and then look at bring Batshuayi on. I still can't stand Hodgson, but its an unfair criticism. He got it right tonight.

Some never get to grasp about it - Batsman seems to be like that. He just puddles around on the pitch and you could see the despair/anger in Wilf's eyes when he put the ball in the net and Batsman was flagged offside.

Don’t forget part of the transfer agreement is if he plays a set number of games (I believe 15) we have to purchase him, it’s only a loan at the moment.
